Because we all know Becky will cut you over spoilers...Then again, Becky probably won't read this thread.
For fear of spoilers.

O_o
Why didn't I think of that...
I started 'The Horse & His Boy' and I like it so far. Very different tone than the other books. Less preachy I think.
I'm roughly 75% through Silver Chair. It's ok. I think I like it second, after LW&W - but both Jill and Eustace are kind of annoying. (And it keeps confusing me why he had to call Eustace Scrub in this one.)
I can't help but be darkly amused at some of the commentary, though. Like (view spoiler)
I'm taking a break from Earth Abides and I've just started The Silver Chair. I hope to finish it tonight actually. *fingers crossed*

Can't stand Jill! In fact, I'm finding all three of them - Jill, Eustace, and Puddleglum - to be very annoying!
I'm about to start chapter eight, (view spoiler), and I'm wondering if they've been sent into a trap. (view spoiler) I'm assuming the children missed its significance because of their age and level of discomfort. I am surprised that Puddleglum is going along, however, seeing as he is supposed to be the older, wiser, and exceedingly much more cautious of the three.
Hahaha - at first I was so confused because I opened the GoftM thread and this one in different tabs, and the only two other comments I could see were about GoftM so I thought I was in that thread!Puddleglum sounds like he would fit right in there... but I was really scratching my head over Jill. ;)

Puddleglum doesn't annoy me that much because I find him kind of funny. He'd probably annoy me in real life, but in the context of the story his doom and gloom approach to everything amuses me.As to your spoilers, Nyssa, (view spoiler)

I'd said I was enjoying this more than the last two, and I think I am... but I also have no interest in getting back to it. I keep sitting here thinking I should finish it, and then I continue browsing around the web for another 45 minutes instead...

I started the 'Horse and His Boy' the other day, as my work out read. It's the shortest so far, I think, at least judging by the Nook page count. It's an ok story, less preachy, which is good, and a potentially strong female character, even.
On the downside, it's horribly racist. Basically (view spoiler)
But, for all that, it's not leaving much of an impression. I kind of forget all about it until I see it on my currently-reading self.
But I'm about 55% through, or so, and things seem to be picking up, so I guess we'll see.
I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to get to it this month... If it's as short as you indicate, I might be able to squeeze it into the rest if the chaos ... Umm... I mean madnesssss I have planned.

I seem to be having the same experience with THe Horse and His Boy as you had - the lack of impression, the feeling of it it possibly picking up soon (I'm at the 60% mark) and the racism which is really bothering me.
I didn't care for the last two books at all. I wanted to finish the series as quickly as possible - just to finish it. But I just did not care for the series at all. And the end... If you get there I'll be interested to hear what you think about it.

I need to read it again. I saw the racism/religious issues but it sorta changed a little for book 7 (the religious issues). Spoiler will spoil some but no where near all of book 7 (view spoiler)
