It's hard to say which is better because they were both great in their own ways. Divergent seems more focused on rebellion and identity, while The Hunger Games' theme was revolution and justice.

Divergent. And I say this because what got me into YA reading acouple years ago was the hunger game trilogy, but divergent I think was way better writing, characters. And okay I mean wouldn't you rather have four vs. Peeta? I mean really lol
I hate The Hunger games so I'll go with Divergent even though I haven't read it yet. Go figure. ^.^
Read it! I just finished Allegiant the other day.It was amazing. But I love HG just as much as Divergent. I don't think it should be a Vs. because, they are both super über super epic books in their own right. And they are about different things. They are both some of my favorites. :-)
Absolutely divergent! I really don't like the hunger games at all and I love divergent so it's kind of a no brainer....
Considering how much Layla loves Divergent, I'm surprised this is even a thread.
I vote THG. :) I think there was more depth to the series overal (though THG didn't make me bawl like a baby like ALLEGIANT did). Also, THG was more consistently interesting with only small bits of boredom. I feel like most of ALLEGIANT and a lot of INSURGENT was me retreading lines my eyes skimmed over. ;P
I didn't like THG as much as I thought I was going to. Sure, some parts were good but I think people over-exaggerate when they talk about how good it is. I know that this is debatable, but I think Divergent is much more interesting and exciting.
Right. I think Catching Fire might be a better movie then book. The first half of the book felt kinda slow and flat. I found myself wanting to skip to the actual Games just for some action.
@Layla You think the ending didn't touch those meanings, too? I think it did INCREDIBLY. She made a difficult choice (choices) by sacrificing herself to save her brother Caleb (family) and face the unknown (bravery) rather than be with Tobias.
Lol, that makes more sense. ;) I think THG could've touched upon family a little bit more with Katniss volunteering for Prim.
I think I have to go Divergent on this one for the world building and romance, as I am a total sucker for a good romance in YA books. Hunger Games is also a favorite though, I liked the way that it portrayed Katniss' innate strength and mental capabilities in the face of so much adversity.
I like Divergent better! The Hunger Games was just "eh" for me.
