Cover suggestion, my fellow Necro Bunnies:
GG Allin - When I Die

Can anyone here actually play guitar? This song shouldn't be so difficult...

I can't play anything. I'll sing it, though. All together now...

I think the Bunnies need a roadie, and I'd like to apply for the post - somebody's got to lug all that spandex around. Plus, I have a sneaking suspicion Ekel may have a large collection of capes.

Gg allin - "outlaw scumfuc" would be another good cover.
I think it's against some law to sing that song sober though.

Sadly, my dad only had a few good artists in his record collection. Meat Loaf, for example. But sadly no Hawkwind, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin or Sex Pistols. My uncle owns a fairly huge collection of Iron Maiden LPs, but since he once stated he dislikes Thrash Metal, he seems to be no real metalhead either ;-).

In an age when the kids are listening to Justin Bieber and One Direction, I'll take that as a compliment. So I'll put some Five Finger Death Punch in the CD player, and thank you while I sip my scotch.

My parents raised me on Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Funkadelic (*Maggot Brain* is a classic), and a few others I will keep with me for the long haul, but I just can't sit around and listen to it 100% of the time. And mainly bcoz everytime I go for a drive with my dad he says, "Are these guys still around? How come nobody makes music like this anymore?" and goes on and on about how great this song is...usually something I've heard like one hundred zillion times and can't help is pretty damn tired no matter how classic it is. Not to say that it's not good music, but like classical music, good, but, time to either move on or add something new to the playlist that isn't over 4 decades old, y'know!?
Sadly, my dad wasn't into Hawkwind. But I was. I don't catch myself listening to too much dad rock, dinosaur rock, cock rock, or hair rock these days though I still respect the bands and wouldn't turn away free tix to see some of the OG's but otherwise, I usually stay within 2 or 3 decades, mainly because I own so much stuff I barely could listen to it even if I had music on non-stop.
Still like to listen to a lot of Bowie, quite a bit of Goblin, some Pink Floyd, some Elton John, early King Crimson, a couple of albums of the Moody Blues but am too obsessed with Ambient, Indie Pop, and Electronica mainly from 1998 on.

Zall good.
I think almost anything on the radio is complete garbage.
It is a fact that when we grew up, radio stations picked what they wanted to play. Now, the music labels pay radio stations to play music. That's why music we hear on the radio sux. And why more people should try to track down good music on their own, not being pushed down our throats by the radio or media.
Scotch it up Five Finger!
While I chill out with some Freescha - Vol 2 aka The Snowflake EP.

You're hired! I need help packing all these stilettos.

Great, we have a guitar player! I was going to suggest Scumfuc, or perhaps someting from Antiseen's Eat More Possum album. It's actually against the law for me to sing anything sober.

Bret Easton Ellis once wrote that you get old when the porn stars you admire become younger than yourself. I guess it is somehow similar with music and its creators. It was somehow shocked when I realized one day I was listening to music made by people who were born a few years after me.

Wait til you're my age.

It was a more transitional album. Purple is much better, imo.

I'm relieved too! Thanks to Matthew the NBoD have the chance to be something other than the next Flying Pickets or a boy/girl outfit dancing to pre-recorded... :)

Amazing. I liked the Knife, but what Karin did with Fever Ray was on a whole different level. Saw her live twice the summer this album came out and was mesmerized! One of the gigs where at a festival and Nick Cave was to go on after her and I still didn't want her to stop.

Hi Michael! *waves*. It's good to see you, I've missed your r̶a̶n̶t̶s̶ essays! :-)))
I have very little musical influences from home, sadly. My parents record collection was very spotty (although it certainly contained some pearls that I got aware of much later) and I had it written off on the spot when I got a music interest of my own.
Now, I'm not very good at searching out new stuff, anything after the turn of the millennium feels like pure chance or new stuff by old favorites...

You know that you're getting old when you pay more attention to what their drinking than what their wearing. If she is drinking an appletini, that conversation is going to make you feel old.

My parents listened to classical, folk, opera, and a bit of jazz. Only the jazz rubbed off on me.
Helmet - Meantime

Here's some "mom" rock from me. I can remember her walking through the house cleaning or cooking and singing along to the 45 over and over. It's not something I listen to today, but imagine what music would be like without this.
The Foundations - Build Me Up Buttercup 1968.

And some "sister" rock, which was played ad infinitum in my childhood household. I never new this, but they were a British soul band made up of West Indians, White British, and a Sri Lankan. Interesting.
