This book I am looking for is about a boy who goes blind, because of an illness I think. He learns to read braille and other skills. It was set in Scandinavia, maybe Denmark. I think his name starts with B and it might have been in the Title, though I am unsure about that.

I read this book in the mid-90s, it was probably new and marketed as YA or for Tweens. I read a German translation.
