Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments How are you doing on your 2013 Goodreads' Challenge?
Are you on track?

So, how's it going with your Goodreads challenge? Will you meet your original goal? Did you modify your goal (higher or lower) at some point this year? Will you participate again in 2014?

And, do you feel that setting such a goal helps you or haunts you throughout the year?

Well, whether you've already met your goal, plan to meet it by year's end or know there's no way you'll reach it in time ~ WELL DONE! Because of the books we did read ... We've all ventured to many different corners of the world and beyond. We've met some new favorite characters. We've formed some budding new relationships with smexy book boyfriends. And, we've all got a much bigger brain full of random paranormal knowledge that will surely help us survive their eventual coming out party. LOL! :D

Judithe | 6566 comments Reached and went beyond! No plan to increase it, and liked the pace and "keep-me-on-track" aspect. Off to set mine for next year!

Sandra | 25908 comments Well, for both 2011 & 2012 I did 400 and made both years, so I went for it again this year, but a couple of months ago I could see it wouldn't happen again. So I revised it down to 350 and I've gone past that, so a half-hearted yay!

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments I actually read less this year than last but still managed to reach my goal of 250 books. I think I stick with it in 2014.

Lis | 4037 comments I made my goal and read a few more which included some smaller novellas. Will probably keep it about the same in 2014, since real life is getting a little more demanding.

Best survival tip this year came from LKH via Anita Blake, when shooting Zombies aim for their mouths so they can't bite you...

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments WTG, Ladies! I've met/exceeded mine for 2013 and will stick with the same # in 2014, most likely. I like the pace. I really dislike the guilt-tripish type of statements if I fall behind, so I stick with a # I have been able to read in past years even though I've exceeded it several yrs.

Sam (theliteraryhooker) I've been doing the same thing as you, Steph. The past few years I've hit or exceeded my goal of 52 books (a book a week) but I like seeing that I'm ahead of my goal instead of the silly "uh oh, you're behind!" statements it gives you haha. I don't think I'll finish quite as many books as last year (still have 3 I'm hoping to finish!), but page-wise I think I've read more.

Sandra | 25908 comments My stats say I've read 11,000 less pages & 40 odd less books, and I have read less, but there are a lot of re-reads I don't put into the system :D

I think I'll keep it at 350 for next year, I don't need the guilt from those naughty behind statements.

message 9: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments I reached my goal of 142 books a few days ago-and I know I'm gonna read at least 2 more before 2013 is over. I'm trying to decide if I want to increase my goal to 200 or stick with 142 next year. On one hand, it'd be a great accomplishment to read 200 books (the most I've read in a year since I've been on GR is 167). On the other hand, 142 is a doable goal. One that I'm positive I'll be able to achieve without stressing out or speed reading. Hmmm. We'll see.

Congrats to everyone else who's completed the challenge. And to those who haven't? You're still freaking awesomesauce.
