Sweet, thanks Kate! I could do that one for free with Prime (although its only $0.99) and it will count towards my young adult challenge too :) I'm really doing way too many challenges, but I've recently gotten into young adult, so...

I almost joined a ya a-z challenge since I have been reading a lot of it lately but I have to many challenges going already and don't want it to get confusing.

Kate | 1106 comments Mod
I set up some personal challenges for myself this year as well.
Must Read 2014
Authors Never Read
Extreme Horror

I might make some more.

Mr. X????

We could always agree to count books that start with "Ex" for the letter X.

message 56: by Addy (new)

Addy | 1944 comments What about ExHeroes? Maybe I'll do that one.

Addy wrote: "What about ExHeroes? Maybe I'll do that one."

I've got that one, that would be great to use it for X. Is everyone okay with a slight bend in the rules?

message 58: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
It is all just for fun anyway I say each person interprets the rules however they want to do their challenge.

message 59: by Andy (new)

Andy (manicsloth) | 787 comments How about titles with the word Sex?

message 60: by Robert Krone (new)

Robert Krone | 157 comments Doing it that way for the X is a good idea, will allow me to use Ex-Purgatory, which I just won at LibraryThing. Probably going to change my D entry to The Dead Lands which I also just won there. Pretty cool to have won both of them for December :D

I've also recently won The Eye Unseen, Dog Days - Deadly Passage, Ardent Forest: A Novella, Mister October, Volume I - An Anthology in Memory of Rick Hautala, and Mister October, Volume II - An Anthology in Memory of Rick Hautala through LibraryThing since October, so I will probably be changing more than just the D entry, lol

Kate | 1106 comments Mod
@Justin- exactly, it's just fun. There'd be nothing worse then finding an appropriate book and feeling like you HAD to finish it, takes the enjoyment away.

@Andy- Whatever floats your boat. :D

@Robert-That's an amazing haul if books, nice one.

message 62: by Maxine Marsh (new)

Maxine Marsh | 703 comments Mod
Yeah, in other groups I've seen they allow Q, X and Z to be anywhere in the title.

message 63: by Kate (new)

Kate | 1106 comments Mod
Maxine, for Q I found Quarantined by Joe McKinney. It's supposed to be pretty good.

message 64: by Robert Krone (new)

Robert Krone | 157 comments Thanks Kate. Have to agree, it's been a GREAT last few months for me on LibraryThing! Have only won on GR once in the last several months. So far they have all been eBook copies, but that is ok! The Ex-Purgatory book is a physical copy, but I haven't gotten it yet since I just won. Have not read any of the others in the series, but it sounds like that should be ok.

message 65: by Maxine Marsh (new)

Maxine Marsh | 703 comments Mod
Thanks Kate, I'll add that to my list of possible Qs! I see some of you have completed Snowblind on yours list- I loved that book!

I like those categories for a challenge! I would probably do something similar if I weren't already doing 4 challenges already! I would probably make a Japanese Literature challenge since I have some 40 Japanese novels on my Kindle right now. What are you must reads for 2014?

message 69: by Addy (new)

Addy | 1944 comments Every Dead Thing has been on my mind for a while now. Let me know when you read that one and I'll join you.

I'm going to try and get a few more books read from my other challenges. Could maybe start it in Feb?

message 73: by Maxine Marsh (new)

Nice list, Pierre! I also added X Isle to my 'want to read' list, it looks interesting.

Also found a Titles That Begin With X list.

message 74: by Pierre (new)

Pierre Good list. I forgot about Mario Acevedo's
X - X-Rated Bloodsuckers
You first have to read
N - The Nymphos of Rocky Flats
of the Felix Gomez series but I am interested in reading both.

I actually read the nymphos of Rocky flats, I think I got it at a yard sale or something. I completely forgot about it until now. I remember it as being all right but nothing spectacular. I may use that suggesting for x, I guess I will decide when the time comes.

I may still end up putting together a "books I own in print" personal challenge for myself. I have some good ones that I have been overlooking for way too long because I'm so used to reading on my kindle.

It is a bit of work but I like seeing what everyone's read and where they're at in the challenge.

message 81: by Matt (new)

Matt McRoberts (nemesis0) | 404 comments Something to do if you get bored. I have kept track fairly well, though i've been reading some books that are repeat letters lately so i haven't needed to do much updating to the list.

Thanks, Kate. Apparently I'm a total nerd for keeping lists of things :) I will probably do a double A-Z list for horror.

Justin, fill yours in! Catch it up whenever. If you don't I'll be all alone here, in this lonely, lonely challenge thread...

I'm not doing that great with my challenges either. I have about 8 letters to complete this challenge so I'm like you in that it may be the only challenge I manage to complete. :D

Nice to see your lists filling in, gentlemen :) Kate, I can't believe how big your list is!

I was thinking to read Queen of Blood (the sequel to House of Blood) for my Q, but now I see Quest for Sex, Truth & Reality on Justin's list and I may have to check that one out.

After filling out my list I was looking at what other people read for letters I was missing and saw it on pierre's list and remembered that I had just read it recently but it wasn't marked as read on goodreads, I found my kindle and opened it up and I'm at 80% but apparently forgot about it and never finished. I just went ahead and added IT to my list and I will finish it up real quick tomorrow night.
