SOLVED. Semi-dystopian, Teenagers with superpowers [s]

I remember reading a book in about 2007 (so the publication date must be before then) about teenagers living with superpowers. At the library I got it from, it was classed under "Teen Fiction". I thought the book was just called "Powers," but can't find one that fits this anywhere.

In it, all the adults mysteriously vanish, leaving only kids under a certain age (16? 17? 18? something like that), and the kids find out that they have superpowers. There are various ones, and they each have a "power level" which, corny though it is, can be read by one kid with that as his superpower.

They have to learn to live in a society without adults to lead them, so it involves kids taking over things like the post office and fast food (believe one kid takes over the McDonald's). When they try to leave the island that they're on, they find out that there is a shield preventing them from leaving.

I believe there was supposed to be a sequel to it (or possibly a series), but I only ever read the first book.
