And now, with the internet and blogs even an obscure writer can be hyped.
I have been pretty happy with the Booker winners that I have read thus far, but I have never looked into the shortlist. That is quite a task you have set for yourself!

Rather than just do 3 months, I've decided to up the ante for myself this year and keep up the dare for the full 11 months that I will be living in temporary housing.
Here is a link to the blog that is hosting the Triple Dog Dare. http://readywhenyouarecb.blogspot.com...

Oh, I like this, Thomas! I have far too many books in my TBR pile.

I have a vague idea that it might be a good idea to stop reading the manual for life (and I include novels in that) and start trying to actually live a little more. I suspect that, like many New Year Resolutions, I will very quickly conclude that I would rather just carry on reading!

Happy New Year everyone!

My reading goals:
1. Reading from my TBR pile, both physical and digital.
2. Reading at least 10 books by authors I have never read before.
3. Reading more big books (over 800 pages) and not worrying about my overall book total for the year.
4. Completing a MAJOR book cull.
Does anyone have any advise on #4? I have no trouble cleaning out closets and basements, but I am terrible at getting rid of books.

I also look through books I've had for 5 years + and ponder whether I'll ever read them or not...

One way I justify giving away books, is to give them to people I know enjoy reading as much as I do. I either donate them to my public library, or bring a handful to my book club to see if anyone wants them. But it's still very difficult to get rid of them, and my shelves are still very full!

The problem is that I still suffer book-abandonment guilt and DNFing 2 in a row makes me feel unworthy.
I am going to do the same thing this year. Only books in my possession for the month of January.
Anyone else have reading resolutions for the new year?
