So, I had a couple of hours free the other day and I thought up a scene that was abit werid but it worked.

It was to do with tantric breathing (keeping a long explination short) and I wondered just how comfortable it would be to do with someone else and I ended up asking my boyfriend to help see how it would work.

Who promptly sighed and realised it was something writing related. He's used to it.

So, what is the weridest thing you've asked someone to do or explain because of your writing?

I don't think mine is too weird, but I've asked my friend to stand still, with her right arm out like she's throwing a punch (a fighting stance) and I look into her eyes really seriously and assure her, "I'm not going to hurt you." Then I do whatever martial arts move I need to around her or gently reposition her, so I can see how something would work in one of my fighting scenes if I'm not sure or can't fully see it in my head. It's just nice to have a physical body there sometimes.

Huh I guess that is kind of weird lol.

ahahaha oh man the things we do for our books. I'm sure our friends knew what they were signing up for when they decided to be our friend.

@Jennifer I think that would make an amazing board :D

@Nicole I've always wanted to learn martial arts. I did Ju Jitsu for a while and I can grapple, but I'd like it to not really get to that point in a real situation :p

@Isobel that sounds... interesting. I remind me not to model for you :p

My friends haven't seen me since I started Bisky Scribbles. They phone me every now and again to makesure I'm still alive. Bisky will rise once the book is out :p

I loooove my martial arts and I totally miss it though :< I quit a long time ago about half way to getting my black belt :'( one day I will get it!! I def recommend it to anyone for various reasons, but also it has helped me craft some serious fight scenes, especially the ones where my character is greatly outnumbered.

If your friends got twitter they would know you're alive :D!

most of my friends have limited written english :p They often like the pictures on my FaceBook page though :p

What did you study specifically?

I wanted to do Thai boxing but I'm still not well enough yet, it's very popular in this country :3

Harmony Kent (harmonyk) When I'm writing my friends avoid me ... my family though, now that's a different matter (cue evil grin and ghoulish laughter)... :3

I did mostly Shoalin Kempo, which is a good mix of Kung fu and karate. I came really close to doing jujitsu but the place I was going to study at had like some sort of rivalry with my dojo lol so I didn't =\ I know only a little from what my ex taught me (he was a 2nd degree black belt) and I got lots of practice in grappling with my guy friends (ones a black belt the other is one belt away from being black).

When I go back I think I want to do either Krav Maga or Jeet Kune Do or something with ground fighting, but I mean I won't be picky with whatever comes my way haha.

Samantha Strong (samanthalstrong) | 206 comments @Isobel - OK, I'm a little scared of you now. ;)

I didn't actually ask someone this, but I googled whether human beings can eat snake eggs. The short answer is yes. The long answer is go check out a video on youtube. If you really think about it, why is eating bird eggs any less gross than eating reptile eggs? Yeah, well, I'm still grossed out by it.

J. David Clarke (clarketacular) | 418 comments I thought hard along these lines and I don't honestly think I've EVER asked anyone to do anything involved with my writing.

The strangest thing I've ever done was while writing the short story "Quantum Theory and Tube Socks" (found in my collection The Rubberband Man and Other Stories) the MC finds he has become intangible, passes out and when he wakes up finds he is floating partially inside the kitchen cabinet.

In order to know how to describe what he sees, I lay down on the kitchen floor with my head in various positions inside and outside the cabinet, around and among various cleaning fluids and poisons. Highly uncomfortable, potentially toxic, and not recommended.

Story came out nicely though!
