We are in the same boat. Insane isn't it? If it goes on, this winter will be a tough one. i am already sick of shoveling. I have a photo album on facebook named "why I hate winter". Something tells me there will be a few addition in it this year.

Roz | 4529 comments Ok I'm done with this year. I didn't read my targeted 75 books (only 69, but that's more than last year). I did finish the Alphabet Challenge, some topplers, group, monthly reads, too. I've added to my tbr shelf ( thank you everybody for reading such interesting stuff).

I'm just got back from a last minute shopping for those forgotten items, and managed to hit the library just before closing to pick up a hold book , Cloudstreet. It was my first choice for my Aussie book. Happy New Year everyone!

Casceil | 2728 comments I finished The Flamethrowers. I loved it, and it's going straight to my list of favorite books I read this year. It wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but the prose was wonderful. It's set in New York City and in Italy in the mid 1970's, so it helps to know something about those times.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 1090 comments I should have Slaughterhouse-Five done before dinner, then pick one more for this evening to finish 2013 with 112 books read.

Snoozie Suzie (snooziesuzie) | 937 comments Sorry guys, but i seem to be an infector. I'm feeling a little better today although I sound like I've smoked 80 a day for 50 years! I hope you all start to feel better soon. Sarah, bummer on your purse. I did that last year as it fell out my bag, but fortunately someone handed it in!

Thanks for all your kind wishes. We are all very excited, especially now I've stopped feeling sick!

I'm hoping to finish my audio book, and possibly 'The Killer within me' for Debra's group read but I'm not sure how early ill fall asleep!

No guests?? You going to eat all those prawns by yourself? I'll be right there.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 1090 comments Wow, Dawn! You had a great year for reading. What's your goal for 2014?

message 159: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Let's hope some nice person will hand it in Suzie - fingers crossed!

I've just finished reading To Kill a Mockingbird so I've managed to clear all the books of my "reading" list reading for the New Year. Can't wait to get started with them! I absolutely loved To Kill a Mockingbird so thanks to the people who told me to persevere with it back during one of the Topplers! I've even added it to my "Favourites" shelf. So now I'm going to twiddle my thumbs for and hour and a bit until I can start my 2014 books!

I'm going for 132 (11 per month) because while I expect to be reading the same amount of pages, it will be in fewer books due to the chunkster challenge!

How about you?? Going with more or less than 2013?

Marnie (marnie19) | 3259 comments I'm so glad you finished it Sarah! I loved it too. I hope the next hour goes quickly for you- Happy New Year.

Debra and another friend are not feeling well. Two other friends are just getting over the same symptoms.

I'm staying home and switching to rum toddys instead of rum and cokes. For medicinal purposes only, of course!

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1786 comments Thanks! :)

I can't wait to start with my first chunkster now that I have this year all done!

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 1090 comments I decided to end the year with Kurt Vonnegut. I finished Slaughterhouse-Five and am listening to Breakfast of Champions. That will be #112 and my final read of 2013.
