August Rackham I just finished the Leviathan trilogy and I was so pleased with the whole trilogy that I feel like any book will be a let down now. This trilogy needs more fans so I can discuss and not feel so empty. Anyone have suggestions for books similar to this trilogy (good fictionalized history, breaking gender tropes, fictionalized beasts, steampunky)?

Howard G I can agree with Kim's recommendation for, though I struggled with both of these series and ultimately put them both down, my issue with them were very much the same. If you liked one series, I believe you will more than likely appreciate the second series.

Ezekiel Carsella For fictionalized beasts you can read my book ;) But in all seriousness I'd recommend reading the Steampunk Magazine. They have a lot of cool short stories and plenty of book recommendations. And its free!

I recommend re-reading the trilogy after a few months! While there are no biopunk beasts [to my knowledge], I enjoy the Newbury and Hobbes series. While Hobbes doesn't quite don trousers, I enjoy her pluck and her occasional ribbing of Newbury. There is a "Dragons are ships" book series out there [Midshipwizard Halcyon Blythe, by James M. Ward]in addition to Temeraire, though it is more seafaring fantasy than AU historical fantasy, it's a good read all in all.

Brenda Clough Go and read the Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud. like crack cocaine between book covers.
