I have had a similar problem. You could always ask for it for X-mas or your birthday if you still celedrate. If not you could see if a friend has it. Who knows you might be surprised.
I don't celebrate either.....
And no one I know (aside from you, of course ;) ) has the books.
then you could find out why your library won't let you put it on hold and mabye it can be fixed.
You can download the pdf versions. It's unfortunate, but the only way if you have no other access to the books.

ugg. I know. I had to wait the longest time to get the books shipped in.
I recommended to the librarians. She said she'll see what she could do. Well....now it's just the waiting that's going to kill me. Guess I'm going to re-read the books...again.

You've got the books now, right? (Couldn't bother reading all posts above) cause I'm reading the 7th book atm and I would hate knowing you're stopped from reading this fantasticness(new word, copyright me)
