SOLVED. YA- Rather secluded village in the mountains; girl and boy fall in love; sheep or cattle; one of the characters is about to fall off a cliff, 2001-2006? [s]

Hi! I read a fantastic (I thought it was fantastic at the time... I guess we'll find out...) book in Elementary school (I read rather sophisticated books for my age), between the years of 2001 and 2007. It was a YA (or not) fictional romance novel between a girl and a boy- ages 15-17?? The two lived in a rather secluded village (in the mountains), and they either herded cattle, or sheep, or lambs... I'm not really sure... and they used these animals as their main source of income. It was either set in a European country, or in the United States, but I'm leaning more towards the European country. The boy and girl fall in love, and towards the end, one of the characters (I think it was the girl??) is about to fall off a cliff, and someone saves her. It may have been somewhat of a fantasy story- with guardian angels or something??
