readeraz (zoethereader) | 405 comments I absolutely loved this book! It was beautifully written, and there was really amazing character development! I of course was very upset about the end, but I understand why Veronica did this. She wanted to give us a realistic view of our society! Nothing is perfect and it won't ever be. This book was one of the best examples and I absolutely loved it! 5/5 stars from me! I wrote a super long review for this tragically beautiful book! <3

Abigail | 290 comments Well said Zoe! This book was amazing and beautiful and I will never forget it. But I did cry a little more than I'd like to admit

message 6: by Stormy (new)

Stormy :) (Stormy0218) | 1043 comments Best book ever. The symbolism, the character development, the plot. It was perfect. The ending was both brave and though provoking. The last lines will forever haunt me.

message 7: by Caroline (new)

Caroline Michelle | 32 comments Wow. I didn't look at it that way! I think I wasn't upset about Tris's death, but I was more upset because Tobias was suffering. Ouh and since the beginning I hated Nita (I think that was her name)

message 8: by readeraz, Co-Moderator (new)

readeraz (zoethereader) | 405 comments Stormy I couldn't have said it better! I memorized the last lines from the book...*tear*

message 9: by Erin (last edited Dec 12, 2013 03:50PM) (new)

Erin Vastag This book is now my all time favorite book. When I read the end I was in school and it took so much will power no to cry. I was like she won't die. Main characters never die. After much thought I found the end to this book refreshing. It is more realistic than the MILLION other books where the main character lives.
10/5 stars!!!

message 10: by Caroline (new)

Caroline Michelle | 32 comments I was so negative about it that after reading the end I had a thirst for reading books with happy endings. It's just that the last few books I've read, including Allegiant had sad finales.

message 11: by Caroline (new)

Caroline Michelle | 32 comments Before reading the book, I was told that Four died and I could not have handled his death

message 12: by Stormy (new)

Stormy :) (Stormy0218) | 1043 comments Thanks, I love this book so much. I really want to reread it for the third time but I'm not emotionally ready yet ;)

message 13: by Caroline (new)

Caroline Michelle | 32 comments The only thing that helped me get over it was reading Champion (Legend #3)

message 14: by Amalia (new)

Amalia Primandhani | 6 comments I hate Allegiant! Why Why Why??? I cried so bad when I read it, never expected I will cry but no I don't hate it. It's a really really good book (although I kinda hate the ending) it's beautiful and powerful. I think Divergent is the best trilogy I've ever read.

message 15: by Caroline (new)

Caroline Michelle | 32 comments I'm 100% with you Amalia! The ending no matter what I will still hate it.

message 16: by Abigail (new)

Abigail | 290 comments This book was absolutely amazing. Sure, the ending left me heartbroken, but that doesn't change the fact that this book is beautiful written, and one of my all time favorites. It gave such a great lesson that life isn't perfect and even though I would prefer it hadn't happened, I understand why veronica did what she did. It was really realistic to what would really happen in those circumstances

message 17: by Stormy (new)

Stormy :) (Stormy0218) | 1043 comments The ending is incredibly symbolic and realistic. In a society that is in the middle of battle, characters are going to die. It would be unnatural if they didn't. Also if she hadn't died her character development would be left uncompleted

message 18: by cindy ♡ (new)

cindy ♡ I think the ending really showed who Tris really is which is selfless and brave. It was really sad but I believe Veronica made the right choice. :)

message 19: by Makenzie (new)

Makenzie Taylor | 2 comments I literally just laid in bed and cried for hours after allegiant ended. And not just because of Tris but because it meant that the story was over :( now I just have to look forward to the Tobias novellas

readeraz (zoethereader) | 405 comments Cindy ♥ wrote: "I think the ending really showed who Tris really is which is selfless and brave. It was really sad but I believe Veronica made the right choice. :)"

I totally agree! Tris told herself she was "selfish" but she wasn't...She was born to be selfless and she died being selfless. <3

message 21: by Sleepydeeer (new)

Sleepydeeer | 6 comments I understand Veronica for why she did what she did. It taught us that at the end of the day (as badass as Tris looks) she was just, ultimately, a human. capable of being vulnerable. the death made her even more powerful. I just really loved the ending. And I will always be thinking about this series. :")

message 22: by Allison (new)

Allison Janezic (allilj) | 94 comments I was fine with the ending. While I was not happy that some of the characters that I loved died, I think Veronica did a better job with ending this series than the way Mockingjay ended. At least for me there was closure and a reason as well as a decent epilogue. We did not get that with THG. Life is awful sometimes and I think that in the end of this book there was sadness but also there was hope.

Fangirlforbooks | 17 comments Well I LOVED the book, it was my favorite, but I cried so hard from like 480-526. It was sooo sad :( but I still love the book. IT WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAV BOOK SERIES EVER!

message 32: by readeraz, Co-Moderator (new)

readeraz (zoethereader) | 405 comments Same here! I wrote a huge review on this incredible book where I went into detail about the depth of the ending and characters. I have loved this series from the beginning, and I still loved it after the ending. It was amazing. Truly incredible Veronica, truly incredible.

message 33: by xotic3 (new)

xotic3 Yes here we go! For a start this book was outstanding !! As I read half way through the book things began to get really really interesting. I've got to say that Tris's death was extremely unexpected, Tobias's suffering was heartbreaking though ... that has to be the worst part of it all. Then Uriah, god I was so sad about his incident. Moving away from the plot, I just loved how the book was written from both Tris's and Tobias's POV .. That made it very appealing and hard to put down

message 34: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (Samanthaa3) | 6 comments This book is sad. It has the biggest plot twist to it. And It broke me heart. I love Tris's Point of view. She's so stubborn. And it hurt worse that it was also in Tobius POV.

message 35: by Erin (new)

Erin Vastag I know I loved seeing what both Tris and Tobias were thinking, but it broke my heart to know what tobias was thinking after tris died. It really sunk it that tris was gone when there was no label at the top of the chapters saying whether it was tobias or tris POV.

message 36: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (Samanthaa3) | 6 comments @Erin,
I agree, I always had to search for which POV it was. Although sometimes you could tell by the dialogue.Tobias Point of view in the end was very dramatic. But I think it was necessary for Veronica to put it in his Point of view. I loved this book, it was amazing.

message 37: by Stormy (new)

Stormy :) (Stormy0218) | 1043 comments I loved the dual POV because we could truly understand Tobias for the first time.

message 38: by xotic3 (new)

xotic3 @Stormy, yea I totally agree with that !

message 39: by Erin (new)

Erin Vastag I totally agree with stormy.

message 40: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (Samanthaa3) | 6 comments Yea without Tobias point of view I don't think There would be a way of ending the story. Both POV were great(:

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Exciting but sad at the end. I cried a lot* sob, sob*

message 42: by MiMi (new)

message 47: by readeraz, Co-Moderator (new)

readeraz (zoethereader) | 405 comments Abigail knows this from expirience....I cried way too much for this book....way too much...

message 48: by Tris (new)

Tris | 92 comments I cried A LOT when I read this part, and I still cry every single time I re-read the ending.

But the thing is that it's not when David actually shot tris that I cried. I mean, I was kinda expecting that either tris or tobias would die as soon as Veronica Roth announced the 2 POV's. Tris dying was just another part of the book. What really make me bawl my eyes out was when Cara told Tobias that tris died, and his reaction after that. And when Tobias was thinking at the funeral that if he squeezed tris's hands hard enough, she would wake up. And how Tobias explained his grief for Tris in the following chapters. It was torture to read!

Here are my thoughts on the ending of allegiant:
The reason I am not pissed about her death like some other people is because her death added a lot to the story. It was a significant and meaningful death. It was a powerful conclusion to the series.

To me, the first part of Divergent was just an introduction to the whole series. Everything that happened from chapters 1 through 34 in Divergent was just the beginning. It was a setting up of the plot. And then the actual start of the series was in chapter 35, when both of Tris' parents died. After their death, Tris couldn't handle it anymore. She wanted to die like her parents did. She wanted to die selflessly and like the Abnegation. From there, Tris started to risk her life more and more. She didn't really care about her life. She got into many near-death situations. (In insurgent, Tobias even gave tris an ultimatum!) Life lost its meaning to tris. And then, she found the perfect opportunity to die. When Jeanine announced that people would die every 2 days, and it wouldn't stop until a divergent went to Jeanine, tris volunteered. She new she would be executed and she new she would die. But she lied to Christina and betrayed Tobias' promise and volunteered herself. Again, she wanted to die the way her parents did. But when execution day finally came, she realized she didn't want to die. Lying on the execution table, a second before she was about to be executed, she screamed in her head "I AM NOT DONE YET! I DONT WANT TO DIE!" She realized her life's worth. And, well, Peter, of all people, saved her. My only reaction to that is "LOL". She found out that Caleb had betrayed her. Then all these things happened in the middle. Now let's move to the Allegiant ending. Caleb felt really guilty for what he did to tris. He couldn't handle it. The only way he thought he could fix it was sacrificing himself. He would go to the Weapons Lab and save the city from the GP's. Things were going as planned. When it was time for Caleb to go (and die) Tris went with Caleb to walk him there. Then things started to go wrong. A person had caught them and was chasing after them. Tris made a quick decision. She realized that if Caleb went in there, he would never come back and die. But since Tris was divergent, there was a chance she would survive the death serum. She also realized that she loved her brother. Although Caleb had done many bad things to her, Caleb was very sorry for this and Tris just couldn't stay angry at him. Determined to survive, Tris went in instead of Caleb. And guess what? She survived the death serum! Yay! But when she got into the place, David was there. And he shot Tris. But right before she died, Tris released the gas she needed to and accomplished the task. After she died, her mother came out and tris asked her "Am I done yet?"

Her death was a necessary ending to Veronica Roth's trilogy. It showed that Tris finally knew what sacrifice was, and she learned the meaning of life. It all started when tris' parents died, and it ended when she herself died. Although this ending made me cry a lot, it was an absolutely amazing and creative ending. This is the BEST possible ending that Veronica Roth could have ever dreamed up. My rating for this book is 5 stars!

message 49: by xotic3 (new)

xotic3 Great comment from Tris, I actually excepted someone's death, before I read the book I remember telling my friend "Why do I have a feeling Four's gonna die" but in the end it was tris. Her death actually added a lot of things to the ending although Tobias's grief was painful :(

message 50: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 43 comments Finished it like ten minutes ago didn't stop crying from page 489- the end!!!!! it was amazing but killed me! books are my life and when something this devastating happens in one my life crumbles.
