I'm in the process of finishing up my draft of The Last Damsel and am expecting to get an ebook of it published in the next couple months. I wanted to use this space and time between to gage some people's reaction to the premise and whether they think this might be a promising idea.
---
The nutshell premise is somewhere between Alice in Wonderland and The Hunger Games.
The Last Damsel is set in a world where people don't have names but are defined by part with theatrical connotation (i.e. a Damsel) and are without memory of who they were. Everyone in "the House" are persecuted and tormented by the Vile Veil of Vicious Vesper, who is obsessed with being revered and feared by the departed Sols who "wronged" her in the past though none can remember what lead to their "falling out".
Sols who don't agree to reconcile with and adore the Vile Veil and submit to her process of refinement face elimination and the threat of their part being recast. Those who continue to defy must tour the House as contestants, survive each deadly Stage of it and show the Vile Veil her someone is willing to challenge her claim on the House and all the Sols trapped within by beating her at her own Games.
---
Readers should expect mystery, action, horror with the occasional romance and a heroine who doesn't believe being a Damsel means she should await her rescue or play the victim.
Thanks in advance for everyone willing to offer their opinions here. If you have any questions I will answer and elaborate to the best of my ability.
