Jedo | 2 comments Hello,

My memory of this one is very vague. When I was a kid I got this book from a local library that had some pretty explicit situations of politics, action, torture and sexual perversions set against a spy environment. It was like an especially hardcore James Bond novel.

I remember the author as having a long French name, but when I looked at the preface of the book I saw that there were many other author names and more books in these series, like it might have been a group effort.

I remember a pineapple bomb at the airport; I remember search for captured pilot[s]; I remember how the author kept underlining the imoprtance of airconditioners as the character was visiting hot countries; I vaguely remember that the protagonist had a castle at home that he was trying to restore with the money he received from the missions; I remember a torture scene in which bugs were placed on the subject's eyes and sealed with cloth so that they would eat throuh the flesh. There are a few other scenes that are a bit too explicit even for the internet. Anyone knows what I am talking about?

Jedo | 2 comments Wow, first reaction and right on the money! Almost certainly Gérard de Villiers is the writer and the protagonist is Malko Linge from S.A.S. series. Oh, I'm glad I got rid of that headache. Thanks!

The book covers look terrible by the way. I can see why it appealed to me as a kid.
