Hi everyone. There was a book that I read when I was about 12 or so, so that would be around 2005 ish. I unfortunately dont remember a lot of details, hence my query. What I remember was a boy having this dragon like creature, and instead of naturally being able to breathe fire it needed these stone things that it chewed and it could then create like this lava fire breathe. Again, I know it isnt much to go on, but I hope someone knows it!. Thanks

No its not that one. Ive checked before. I think I remember the dragons being called wyrms. Not 100% sure though

Any more clues about the story? How old was the boy? Did he find the dragon, or see it hatch out of an egg? Do other people have dragons or only him? Are dragons hunted? Is the dragon intelligent? Does it talk out loud?

Was it a series? I can't find/don't remember a lot of details about the dragons in the books, but The Pit Dragon Chronicles was republished around that time, Dragon's Blood is the first one.

There's also the Joust series. I can't remember if they have to chew on something to breath fire.

I'd have said Dragon's Blood as well, but I'm pretty sure that the dragons don't breath fire at all in that one. They fought in an arena like fighting dogs or roosters.
