Geoff (geoffgreer) My only real reading goal this year was to read the entire Wheel of Time series for the first time. I'm on the 11th book, so I'd say I'll hit my goal.

Bill | 1596 comments Nicely done Rob and Geoff.

Mpauli, I've been watching a lot of tv lately instead of reading so my reading pace has gone way down also.

I'm at 62 out of 100 so far with 2 being rereads so don't think GR counts them. 3 ahead of schedule.

Sumant | 522 comments Well I am planning to read at least 50 books this year but as I like to read bigger books minimum 400 pages I am finding my goal of 50 books a bit difficult. The series I have started this year are

1.Wheel of time : So far I have read 4 books.
2.Farseer Trilogy : So far I have read 2 books.
3.Bas Lag Trilogy : So far I have read 2 books.
4.Gentleman Bastards : So far I have read 1
book.

Dara (cmdrdara) I didn't set out specific goals other than to finish the Malazan series and I'll do that in the next month or so.

I think China Mieville is one of the best fantasy writers out there because after PSS i red his the Scar and both were awesome books.

terpkristin My goals were to read 52 books, selecting only from books on my "tbr 2014" list, SFF Audio review books, and S&L picks. So far, I'm doing mostly well with that.

I've read 32 books so far, so I'm on my way to 52.
13 were on my tbr list.
5 didn't meet any of those objectives, including the Sword & Laser Anthology, a book I started in 2013, a non-fiction book that was topical (Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt), a book reviewed per an author's request, and an Audible freebie.

That's a lofty goal, especially with the two Stormlight books and 3 Wheel of Time books. Although the Stormlight books are probably his best imho.

I still need to read Elantris and The Emperor's Soul myself.

Plus his Alcatraz and video games books (infinity blade/sword or something?), though I may not read either of those.

I'd recommend doing Mistborn 1-3, then try Way of Kings. You'll probably enjoy some parts of Words of Radiance better if you read Warbreaker in between. Personally I read it after and it was fine.

You can read Mistborn 4 whenever. I recommend the audio for that.

The Rithmatist I'd put lowest on the priority list. I liked it maybe about the same as Stealheart. It's another YA book/series.

Tammy Alloy of Law is also a great light read after the Mistborn series. The rapport between Wax and Wayne is enjoyable in a Sherlock Holmes and Watson kind of way.

If Watson was a little crazy

It was the butler that concerned me.

That butler is a crafty one.

Scott (thekeeblertree) | 1049 comments I set myself a goal of 100 this year. I didn't want set a specific list of things to read because I find I tend to feel pressured by it and then it affects my enjoyment of the books.

But there were definitely things I wanted to get through this year like the Dresden Files, Stormlight Archive and A Song of Ice and Fire, which I've done pretty well with. Dresden has been such a great series, and I'm sad that I'm almost caught up and will have to wait a year+ for the next ones to come out.

The surprise of my year so far has definitely been the Riyria Revelations. Such great books!

message 63: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Scott, I have to agree. The Riyria Revelations has been one of my favorite series. The chronicles are great as well just to get a little more Hadrian and Royce time!

Scott (thekeeblertree) | 1049 comments Stoked about the Chronicles!

Mpauli | 241 comments One of my goals for 2014 was also to get started on Booktube and I finally bought a webcam, downloaded editing software and uploaded my channel intro video today.
So hopefully this will also inspire more reading, cause I want to do some video reviews.

I used to do book videos for my friends years ago - I never knew this was a thing until recently. Looking forward to your videos :)
