Rebecca Russell (vigorio) | 14 comments Hey, I'm a newbie. I was wondering if any of you would check out my new website about a book I just wrote. I need some feedback. There's a way to leave me comments on the site. Check it out. It's a fantasy story with dragons and monsters and teens fighting for good against evil. Warriorchildren.com is the website.

Tell me what's boring or exciting, I'll be posting chapters on the blog page, so keep checking back if you like the story.

I've been offered several contracts by POD publishers, but an really trying to hold out for a traditional agent or publisher.

With 15 rejections so far, though, I'm beginning to question the validity of my MS. Please let me know what you think when you look at the website.

Phyllis Twombly (scifialiens) | 47 comments One thing I noticed was that your contact page asks if a visitor would like to have the book, which tends to make people think it's already available in a published format. Traditional publishers may not be interested if it appears that way to them.

Posting chapters is a similar issue. It's a good way to get people interested in your writing but you might not want to give away too much of the story for free.

I'd suggest putting together a manuscript proposal when contacting publishers...less reading for them and you just might get some helpful advice.

If you want a website for comparison, mine is http://www.ScifiAliens.com I'm the creator of the Martian Symbiont series, with 3 out of at least 4 titles so far. The more detailed your site, the longer it takes to load. Too long, and people will click to go somewhere else.

I've had a pretty good experience with iUniverse, a supported self-publishing company (meaning they'll do a lot more for you than a regular self-publishing company.) They're also POD, and an ebook is often part of the contract. Like any publishing deal, make sure you're happy with the contract, and if you choose a self-publishing company be extra careful.

Feel free to contact me if you have more questions.

Rebecca Russell (vigorio) | 14 comments Thanks Phyllis. I'll look at your site and change that statement about buying one of mine for now.
