What exactly do you not like about Dale? I just listened to some of the samples on Audible and he sounds fine to me...

Yes.
Night Circus torture levels:
0 = NOPE
100,000 = Read the print version
1,000,000 = Listened to the Jim Dale audio version
Dawn wrote: "What exactly do you not like about Dale? I can't focus or enjoy the story because his reading style just gets in the way to me.
Due to some comedian and his pretty funny sketch I am now officially known as A-A-ron to many people I know. I'm wondering how long before it gets tremendously annoying.
I also love the Jim Dale versions. I've listened to them several times over. I also have a Jim Dale version of A Christmas Carol I believe. I love it to.Yay for Jim Dale!

Look listen for yourself. Dale does a fins job. I suppose it's a matter of taste as some don't care for his reading, but decide for yourself. The audio books are loved by a lot of folks. My kids liked them (and still do), my wife liked them and I like them. As noted that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to hear Fry's rendition just it's not an 'either or" situation.
I have heard Dale read other things and he does a good job. I listened to him read A Christmas Carol and it cracked me up when one of the characters sounded like a character from HP.

I think I'm going to petition the world to ban all Jim Dale audiobooks. Yup. That's what needs to happen.

Ha ha!
Chris wrote: "I'd have a hard time trying Dale's Christmas Carol after listening to Tim Curry do it last year."I haven't heard that one. I have a hard time with Tim Curry sometimes because I'm most familiar with him as that creepy pervert cardinal in Three Musketeers so that's what I think of whenever I see or hear him. I can't have him adding perviness to A Christmas Carol! :)
Tim Curry will always be The Rocky Horror Picture Show for me. He's done much better stuff since but that's where I first saw him.
I think of Clue first, but i think the first thing I saw him in was Legend, though lords know you can barely tell it's him.
That is just hilarious! We have a 22 pound cat that used to try to climb our fake tree. He never made it up. This is a great pic!
Luckily none of my cats have ever climbed the tree. They do like to live under the tree, swiping at random passersby and killing low hanging ornaments.

Though I'm mostly with Becky's "It's not even Thanksgiving yet. O_O "
Christmas is our favorite holiday, and like to have our tree up for Thanksgiving. We don't have Thanksgiving decorations, so we just skip straight to Christmas. It makes the house more festive (we host dinner on Thanksgiving)!
We pretty much have Christmas and not-Christmas decor, nothing in between. I like to have the tree up early!
I know cats love Christmas trees. My sister said she had a kitten take down a seven foot Christmas tree...
Last year we couldn't decorate the tree at all, she was too young and was completely nuts. Now she is a little calmer, so rather than tearing it to shreds she just burrows in and climbs to the top and naps there.
We have a "new" cat. He's about 7 months old... I expect to have an interesting holiday as my arms are covered with haling scratches...and I have one on my nose to.
My cats just try to attack ornaments. Elliot will lay under and just lick the trunk...for hours. He does the same thing with real or fake trees. Just makes out with the tree for hours. It's really weird.

We haven't had a tree since we got Benji. We're supposed to do one this year...Let's all hope that Benji doesn't decide to redecorate for me.
Happy Thanksgiving to all celebrating.Just a random thought for our "Randomnessosity" here.
I was looking back at a review today I did a while back. It got a like and in reading over it I found some typos and where I'd actually left out a couple of words I was typing so quickly.
So, the thought....or possibly the epiphany. The review was for one of Michael J. Sullivan's Riyira novels. In the review I expressed the opinion that the books while possibly not "great literature" would have staying power and be around for a long time.
Then something hit me. I have never been able to really like my Kindle. I have a lot of books on it but can't recall one that has given me much satisfaction to read. Is it that the books have all been disappointing or is it that I just miss the sensation of reading an actual book?
Whatever the answer I don't own any of the Riyria books except in electronic form...E-book or audio. No one will ever (unless I go buy them) years after I'm gone come across them on a book shelf. They won't be handed down like "books" are. We recommend books we like or love... But Ebooks won't have the staying power books in the past have had. Seeing the title in E-text won't be the same as seeing the physical book.
Would Lord of the Rings still be going 70 years after it was written had it existed only in E form?
I don't know. I think for example Harry Potter will be known by later generations as parents and grandparents introduce later generations to it. The books will be around and kids will see them. They'll be reread as people think back years later to the joy they got from them (or The Hobbit or Narnia or whatever) when young.
Just a thought. What do you think?
