message 2005: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Lol. I'd have been a lot more interested in Home Ec if they had!

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments Hey! I learned to make a cream cheese and jam sandwich in home ec!

message 2007: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes Did you roll it into a log and cut it so it looks fancy?

I seem to remember some sort of casserole with crushed saltine crackers.

I remain ever proud of that "F" I earned in Home economics.

I suppose if that's all you have....

Lots of fiber though.

message 2014: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Bad Girls Deadlift (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments If you eat shredded cheese you eat wood.

They take cellulose and use it as an "anti caking" agent and most of the time they get the cellulose from tree pulp.

Fun fact!

message 2015: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) | 63 comments Not only that, but the cheese that they use for shredding is old stuff. No thanks. We have shred our own cheese for years now.

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments I like the woody feel of shredded cheese. Mmmmmmmm :)

message 2017: by Elise (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) What kind do you have?

message 2028: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes That sucks MrsJ. Hope you can sort out a solution of some sort.

If its dead, can we have a wake? I need a drink.

message 2029: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Can you update your firmware? I thought my nook was dying on me a while back but once I updated the firmware it's fine.

message 2030: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Bad Girls Deadlift (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments Becky wrote: "What kind do you have?"

It's a kobo touch, first gen.

It's been gasping for a while and this was the last gasp. I could try the firmware and see what happens. But I think it's on its way out.

Well... that's a reason to go for the Kobo Aura. Those seem to get really good reviews. I bought a kindle paperwhite a week or so ago and I really like it too. So now I have a nook with glowlight (first gen, not the new one) and a kindle paperwhite.

message 2034: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Bad Girls Deadlift (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments I just ordered one. O_O

I really shouldn't have - hubby told me to wait - but I NEED an ereader.

I put it on the CC.

Yeah. And I managed to find a coupon code for about 10% off. That's not much but it sure helped!

message 2041: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) | 63 comments I saw that the new Kobo Aura is waterproof. Which is awesome.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments Leslie wrote: "I saw that the new Kobo Aura is waterproof. Which is awesome."

Yeah but that's the HD version which is bigger (and more expensive!). But I totally want that cause...bath!

message 2043: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) | 63 comments YES! Not to mention scuba reading.

message 2044: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) | 63 comments I love that edge to edge screen design of the Kobo Aura (the non HD, not aquatic reader) But I already have a Kobo glo, so can't justify it.

message 2045: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Bad Girls Deadlift (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments Yeah, I like it, too. I'm excited about a new reader but disappointed that my old one broke.

Also the reason I refuse to give up my analog books!

message 2046: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes Apparently because I read Damascus Nights I also might like a lot of Japanese Manga and German books. I don't really see the connection there at all.

message 2047: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes If no one has checked out correlate.org, they should. It's a treasure-trove of absolute mind-boggling inanity. I mean that in the kindest way.

Correlation #1198 Trust me. You can't buy this kind of lifechanging information.

message 2048: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) http://www.correlated.org/1194

I like my feet outside the covers when I sleep too. In fact, most of the time, I have a tiny corner of the blanket covering my hip/belly region and the rest of me is reveling in blanketless.

message 2049: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Bad Girls Deadlift (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments :-D

I love it.

What about people who like the covers off. And then on. And then off again?

message 2050: by Elise (new)

Elise Kleuskens No no no! Feet should be well covered... Everything should be well covered! Even in Summer!
