I got so good at that game in college lol. I was almost as fast as some of the world records, but it becomes a thing of how fast your fingers can move, and how precisely rather than how fast your mind works.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I was a champ at minesweeper... I liked challenging myself by not using any flags.

That was good, plus it reduced your time quite nicely.

message 811: by Laurel (new)

Laurel You guys are hard core! I just played the game to relax...

Bows to the champions.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments I never could get into that game...but it seemed to be popular with the people who worked in the office.

message 813: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments I never got into it, either.

message 814: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes I play solitaire mostly now. Sometimes with real playing cards.

message 815: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I played spider solitaire in the old office when I got bored with minesweeper... but now I have no games at work. :(

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments The people on the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier play Space Invaders on the computers...

I waste time on here, 17S, and Reddit while at work, no time for games lol.

message 819: by Laurel (new)

Laurel When I get back to work, I hear that it's almost impossible to keep the students off the games on the iPads...

I'll have to think of you all while I'm teaching ;)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments It probably beats spitballs.

message 821: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Yah, those unfortunately are reserved for substitutes. The classics sadly do not go out of style.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Back when there were no computers to play on we had to improvise...

message 823: by Nan (new)

Nan (felicityk) | 245 comments I used to do very elaborate doodles on quad-ruled paper -- looked like I was paying attention in class and taking notes.

message 824: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments My school notebooks were always littered in doodles.

message 825: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Bad Girls Deadlift (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments I took notes.

message 826: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I did that, too.

The best was when I'd start dozing off in class and my notes started getting smaller and smaller and then there's just a line down the whole page...

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments I was in school (elementary) in the late '50s and early '60s. We had no AC and steam radiators. In warm weather the windows were open. We'd take a rubber band and wait for a fly to light on our desk. Then when the teacher turned his/her back we'd stretch the rubber band and try to kill the fly by flicking it.

I did the same thing. On my nook. On my phone. And on my lap top. I have nothing against gaming. But it wasn't working for me.

message 830: by Luke (new)

Luke | 333 comments My art teacher in highschool couldn't pay attention if she wasn't doodling. Each semester during college she'd end up with whole notebooks full of doodles.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) My Google-fu is strong. ;)

message 841: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes There seriously needs to be a way to mark a book as read, but to prevent it from showing up in discussions about books. I'd love to see what people are talking about currently with books I have read, but there are way too many HP game threads for it to be of any use.

message 842: by Nyssa (last edited Mar 22, 2014 07:07AM) (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments I think it would be great, if like with the Actors Guild, there was a one name - one person rule with authors - meaning there could be only one author named John Q. Public, not 20. This would be especially helpful for sites like this, where works are often, accidentally, being placed under the wrong profiles.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments Hubby and I checked out this B&M bookstore today: http://www.atomicbooks.com/

It was pretty cool. They didn't have any Malazan but the usual suspects had recognition: Gaiman and GRRM.

There was a sealed copy of the Ultimate Sandman and I thought of Colleen.

Someone on Facebook where I got the pick said it could hold all seven volumes of Harry Potter, at least. I gotta say, I'm sort of tempted...
