I love this video about Bibles in China! Inspiring how people there cherish their Bibles so much. http://www.christianpost.com/buzzvine...

"Everyone should watch this at least once.

This short video by Gary Turk is a reminder of the effects of social media on our society. By connecting online, we are disconnecting offline. What are we missing from life as a result? What critical moments do we miss that we didn't even know passed us by? Be sure to watch this entire video, especially the ending."

It's pretty sad when a Christian can't find ONE REASON why same-sex marriage is wrong.

Madi | 220 comments Wow! What a great message!. When you think about it, it's so sad that our world, families, and almost the way we think is shaped by our phones, computers, and social media. It didn't used to be that way.

Right! What happened to the old days, when you sit around with your family and talk about your day and just connect and laugh together? And actually have the courage to go out and talk to people face to face?

Technology is great. But in a way, it's also a curse.

Madi | 220 comments For sure! My fondest memories from when I was little were when we would sit by our fire pit in our backyard, spending time together. I really think that's why there are so many failed relationships, and marriages these days... Because people are more committed to their phones than those around them. Sad to say, but that's how it is. :/

Rachel (hopeless-wanderer) FACE TO FACE?! O.o
that does take courage....

Agreed, and they're also not committed to putting God in the center of their lives to make those events work out.

message 85: by [deleted user] (new)

It takes courage now because we lack practice in an area where we shouldn't. And I'm speaking of myself, too.

The problem, I've noticed, is that so much emphasis is put on sex and how it's bad and STAY FAR FROM IT, that people actually are more prone to think about it. The forbidden is a curiosity, right? And the more you dwell on a temptation, the more you're liable to cross the boundaries.

message 98: by Madi (new)

Madi | 220 comments I found this article to be pretty interesting. I think he got a little off when he writes, "God punishes sinners." For me personally, (remembering that everyone may have different beliefs and convictions) I do not think that God punishes sinners. I believe that when a person chooses to enter into sin, they cut themselves off from communion and a relationship with God. It's a choice that THEY make. I've heard it said that God gave everyone free will, and that means we can freely live for God, or live a life in sin. God did this so we wouldn't be robots, forced to praise and honor Him. When a person makes the choice to not live for God there will definitely be consequences, but I don't think it's God who does the punishing. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death. What are wages? Wages are like a paycheck. So when you continue to sin, paychecks keep coming. Leading a life of sin is what will bring consequences.
In the same breath I do understand that with any subject of discussion, there are a million ways to "climb the mountain", so to speak. And I totally understand the concept of what he's writing, but I think there has to be balance. Romans 2:4 talks about the love of God leading a man to repentance; meaning there has to be love involved with sinners.

hmmmmmmmm good points.

God disciplines us though too. would that be similar to punish? although I completely agree with how sin cuts us off from our relationship with him
