the trailer<the book (spoiler for those who havent read all of the books)

in the book she portrayed Lissa as beautiful and innocently broken... she thinks lost her whole family in a car wreck, and all she has left is her uncle and rose... and we know how that turned out... she finally gets christian and they are head butt-ing-ly happy. the lissa i saw in the trailer was just trying to make it through school... that wasn't how i saw the book at all...
rose thought the only thing that she had to live for was to protect lissa, she hardly cared for herself at all, protect the mori.. that is all. in the trailer she was almost laughable, and so short! i thought shed at least be above 5'3''...
dimitri was a trainer but then fell for rose in a passionate affair that contradicted his morals, and he was two ways about it for a long while, about three books! but in the trailer he, quite frankly, looked a bit creepy... i didn't find him sexy by any means...
Christian only has his aunt left, he lives in the shadows of the school and the bell tower, he is cryptic and observant, and i fell in love with him immediately, it didn't show much of him in the trailer so i couldn't be too disappointed.
those are the characters that stood out... the ones that truly mattered to me... anyone else to fall into place is obsolete, in my opinion.. but that is exactly what this is, an opinion, Rachelle Mead chose these people for a reason, she felt they could portray her characters the best, and i will stand behind her all of the way, i am sure when the movie comes out that we will all be thunderstruck and bowing and wanting more and more all over again.

I have to admit that the trailer looks bad, almost making me rethink going to see it. However, Rachelle Mead mentioned in an interview that she's happy with how the movie turned out so if she is okay with it then I'm okay.
I'm not against the casting choice, mostly because I like that these are new faces we're seeing.
Despite the trailer, I'm still excited to see it and hoping it will be true to the books.

I know exactly what you mean. I think they made it too... Too... Typical teen movie about vampires. Does that make sense? The trailer made it look like they completely changed the personality of the characters. But, as was previously mentioned, the author says that she likes the movie and that it was true to the books. I'm really hoping that the movie is better than the trailer.
But one thing I feel like I should add is that I am actually ok with who they cast as dimitri. That surprises even me. I never thought they could come close, but I think they did an ok job. He's definitely not as sexy as the dimitri in my mind but that would be virtually impossible so... Haha

We also have to consider that giving away too much information in the trailers will come off as spoilery to the non-readers and would also be confusing too. They are trying to promote the movie differently than how movies like TMI, Beautiful Creatures and Twilight were promoted, who took a very serious and dark approach. They are trying to show the movie in a different way to appeal more people to go see the movie, not just the book fans who know what the storyline is already.
Anyway, this is the same with the characters. Showing too much of Lissa's background reveals too much of the storyline. They are also trying to mauch the movie humorously appealing by portraying Rose's snarky side while saving her darker and serious side until later. Plus her height is perfect because Danila is a little shorter than Dimitri's initial height.
We only saw a few shots of Dimitri so we can't really judge him too much until we see more.

this is going to be the worst book adaption ever. no kidding. in my opinion, they couldnt have portrayed the books worse and everything just seemed too mean girls and god i really hate the actors they chose! sorry if you dont like my opinion but im just very angry at this situation
