I'm pretty random picking my next read and also have to check page numbers so nothing definite and no links until I get rolling next year
Oooh. Doctor Zhivago's a thought! I might need to borrow that idea, if you don't mind!
My daring decision to try murakami this past year was one of the best surprises I've had. So far I've enjoyed all that I've read by him
I say daring as there was no good reason based on my reading habits at that time to have ever picked up Kafka on the Shore

I just spat my cider. I'm charging you if I need a new keyboard. That's a whole heap of Alex Craft at once! I'm one of these people that space out my serieses instead of reading them all at once, but Lexx is the opposite so I completely understand. Really hope you like them.
You could, if you so choose, edit message 1 and move msg 14 into it. Then you'd have it at the top and not have to hunt it down further into the challenge.
Rusalka wrote: "I just spat my cider. I'm charging you if I need a new keyboard. That's a whole heap of Alex Craft at once! I'm one of these people that space out my serieses instead of reading them all at once, ..."
ROFL! Good thing you weren't eating spaghetti at the time.
Janice wrote: "You could, if you so choose, edit message 1 and move msg 14 into it. I'll keep that in mind when the challenge starts.
Hope the keyboard survived Rusalka. I do series differently. Sometimes its nice to take them as a leisurely stroll through the park but other times I attack them with a more balls to the wall attitude.
Travis of NNY wrote: "I'm saving message 1 for finished books only but if I still follow my plan transferring 14 to 1 will save me a great deal of time. I'll keep that in mind when the challenge starts..."That would work too.
"4 syllable last names" -- nice link! I tried to work The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle into an early reading block but had considerable difficulty doing so. For now it's buried in Buzz's Bombers. I suppose I'm just less creative with the links!
up to 14 gotta inspect the bookshelves again. I haven't even gone through any physical books these are all kindle and audio, but dead tree versions are such a work out guess I better start eating my spinach if I'm going to start reading those.
I read The Colour of Magic a couple of years ago as a start into the Discworld series. It was an okay read for me, but not as good as listening to it read. I have been listening to it narrated by Nigel Planer and enjoying it a lot more. I have never read Mort, but really need to, by all accounts, from those the readers in this group who have done so.
Love your links! I haven't gone through my physical books yet either- it is such a pain to carry them around. It might be a good reason to read them and donate them- imagine how much space you could free up.
Actually Marnie only a few of the books are mine. We have gotten rid of most of our books. My wife and her 6 siblings were home schooled and her parents built up quite a library for them especially since they didn't own a TV or radio. What I have is a giant stack they thought I would like to read and return. After many months and with the alphabet I haven't read a single one of their books. Probably should there's some chunksters in the lot.
We are just starting to get rid of our books. My husband was SLOW to the whole ereader thing ( thank you Delta for letting him read his ereader while taking off :) I do love going through a stack of books- I always find something begging to be read. Wow seven homeschooled kids- I bet that was a lot of fun. I came from a large family ( 5 kids) too and I loved it.
I highly recommend Mort - it's one of my favourite Terry Pratchett books. I've not read any for a while and seeing them on your list Travis has made me think about checking out what the library has available for me!
Sarah wrote: "I highly recommend Mort - it's one of my favourite Terry Pratchett books. I've not read any for a while and seeing them on your list Travis has made me think about checking out what t..."Seconded.
You're about to overtake me with the series Travis. Be interested to see what you think of number 3. It's sitting on my shelves taunting me.
finished my third book Grave Memory. I liked this book the best so far because it gets right to the story. It stays mainly with the investigating of Alex and partners and the case they're working. I gave it 4 stars since it went 2/3 before having to deal with the paranormal romancy crap which I have disliked in the 2 previous books causing me to drop both of those to 3 stars. I would have gone 3 on this especially after the seemingly endless sex scene, but hey I was already enjoying this book and felt generous to give it the 4. I like urban fantasy not paranormal romance and although there is sex and romance in many books it just seems like it drags out at times in this series a little longer than my stomach prefers having to deal with it.
Ah fair enough. I found these pretty light on the romance which is why I enjoyed them. But maybe my stomach is a little stronger on this, probably due to all the rom com crap i had to suffer through as a teenage girl. Sorry if i missed the mark a little with my rec.
I am enjoying the series and will try to keep going with them if I remember to watch for them. There probably isn't as much romance as it seems to me. I think the problem I'm having is its written by a female and narrated by a female. I'm not big on oooh that tight shirt over those perfectly sculpted abs and perfect chest. Barf. Yes my bias is sexist in this case. And the narrator doesn't have an ideal phone sex voice or maybe it would be better. I have never faulted Murakami for the sex in his books and some of that gets down right disturbing. I'll be looking for #4 this summer though I like idea behind the book.
I forgot you were audiobooking them. I think I would find that slightly disturbing too...And it's not sexist really. Different strokes for different folks.
finished Ex-Heroes which was all of the fun I thought a superheroes vs zombie book should be. Just a bunch of undead killing badasserie .
Been zipping through a bunch of quick ones just started my first actual chunkster. Finished ex-Patriots had a deeper plot than the first book. The zombies were still present, but it was more of a battle of the superheroes vs the military with a side of zombie.
The Heroes which again I kick myself as this stand alone novel takes us to the same world and uses some of Tue characters from the first law trilogy. I have to read that trilogy before I read any more abercrombie after this one.
Well enjoy it Travis. I have The Blade Itself coming soon which I'm looking forward to as it will be my first Abercrombie book!
