I've still not remembered some of those titles. But one day, one day. . .
Heroine grew up in a small village with basically a nanny while her parents were out globe trotting. The villagers call her a witch and are uneasy because there is a new (Lord or Earl) is the castle who they call the Devil. I believe that it starts on Belfast or one of the other holidays where you jump the fire. Heroine goes out to check on the stream, she thinks that there is something wrong with the water. One of the men from the village follows here with un-noble intentions. The hero shows up and send the villager on his way.
Hero has a matchmaking sister, who goes through a lot of effort to get the Heroine into the castle. She concocts a ghost and then locks the two in a room when they go to investigate. She puts an aphoristic in their goblets at dinner and they do end up making love. She goes to leave, he stops her. Heroine ends up pregnant and tells the Hero. He insists on a doctor examining her and the sister know just the doctor to do so. They go into society to look for the doctor. Heroine laughs after examination, because the doctor doesn't really examine her just asks her questions.
She informs Hero that in her family the women only have girl children. He doesn't believe her. I remember a scene in a drawing room where she embarrasses him by asking some older gentlemen if water could go sour. She still trying to figure out the water problem. Eventually they go back to castle and she is now very pregnant. She says that if she does not give birth in the village she was raised in the baby will be stillborn. Her parents show up, father confirms that every child his wife has miscarried (away from the village) had been a girl.
Near the end all of her female cousins descend to help out and he runs off because the mine (I think this is reason he came to village) is having some sort of trouble. She gives birth to a baby boy, shocking the whole family. The mine explodes, Hero escapes. Turns out the mine was poisoning the water all along.
