I have loved the classics that I have read this year and really want to read more but I also have a stack of books on my shelves to read that are more modern so I hope this will help reduce my TBR mountain.

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) This sounds great, Tracey. A good mix to start with, and nice and flexible too.

Sigourney (psthebirdbites) | 226 comments Wonderful idea :) I hope you enjoy it! I read Between Shades of Gray in 2012 and loved it - very harrowing but very good.

That's what I thought Jean. I know I will get waylaid by some other treasures too but that's ok. :)

message 26: by Tracey (last edited Jan 13, 2014 09:25PM) (new)

Tracey (traceypb) | 1193 comments Finished The Book of Lost Things: A Novel It was a really good story a little gruesome at times but full of joy and very funny too, the part with the 7 dwarves was totally Monty Pythonesque.
Also getting on great with Pickwick.

339 pages

message 27: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) I'm loving Pickwick too, Tracey :) Do you know which Dickens you'll be reading in April? I'll be finishing Oliver Twist then.

message 28: by Book Ninja (new)

Book Ninja | 213 comments This is a wonderful idea. I love classics too but don't get time to read them because I'm trying to catch up with all the new books. I might copy your idea, if you don't mind ☺️ don't know if I will be able to follow it but will do my best

message 29: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (traceypb) | 1193 comments Little Dorrit on the list here Jean but very flexible on my Dickens reads. What's your plan for April ?

message 30: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (traceypb) | 1193 comments Rabat please feel free to use this format or join in any books that you want to read alongside me.

message 31: by Book Ninja (new)

Book Ninja | 213 comments Thank you Tracey!

message 32: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) I'm allowing 2 months for each Dickens so it should be the second half of Oliver Twist , but I could start Nicholas Nickleby a bit earlier as that's a long one (and I have 3 extra novels to fit in for the 2 year target if it's one every other month.) I won't get round to Little Dorrit until the middle of next year though, so don't wait for me! :)

message 33: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (traceypb) | 1193 comments I added the rest of the classics for this challenge but not sorted the 'New' part of my challenge as yet. Aka keeping options open. :)

message 34: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) It's looking good Tracey - 5 Dickens!!

message 35: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (traceypb) | 1193 comments I know Jean and maybe more if I can fit 'em in lol

message 36: by Bionic Jean (last edited Jan 20, 2014 11:40AM) (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) Oh yes - I do hope we can coincide again. I've just looked at my list and The Old Curiosity Shop might fit :)

Tracey (traceypb) | 1193 comments Erica wrote: "The woman in white sounds very intriguing, I've added that to my tbr list. Great idea for a challenge too."

It is very good Erica. I love Dickens and I feel I have found an alternative to him Wilkie Collins was a friend of Charles Dickens and his works were released in the same form as Dickens in monthly instalments.
I hope you get around to reading The Woman in White it is more than worthwhile.
