Today the story behind the Day Five door is from Jonathan.A Warning
“So why have you called me in, Doc?”
“Well, we’ve been reviewing our most at risk patients and you fall squarely in that category. You’re inactive all year round; you’re now clinically obese.”
“Oh.”
“The one time of year you do any exercise, you overexert yourself; you’re asking for a heart attack!”
“Oh.”
“And during that exercise, you stuff your face with mince pies and booze!”
“Oh.”
“Oh, oh, oh. Is that all you’ve got to say for yourself, Santa?”
“Well it’s hardly appropriate for me to shout ‘Ho ho ho!’ when you’ve just told me I’m half-dead, is it?!”
Santa has updated his image, and his outfit. See what you think of New Santa...http://hurricanevanessa.com/wp-conten...
I don't really feel qualified to comment on that, but I suspect the cold weather may have an impact on how it's worn.
Are you going to repost the whole advent calendar together so people can see them apart from the banter... Or... Why not post each entry in bold so people can spot it as I think this thread could get quite big... Just an idea....
Yep bold, I wouldn't want to stop the banter... You know how to do it? <*b>text here<*/b>
Take the asterisk out...
A really entertaining calendar - better than the Maltesers ones my kids have. I'll keep tuning in. Thanks. :)

Dear Father Christmas. I want - I beg your pardon. Mum says, "I want never gets." She says I need to learn some manners.
I'll start again.

Love this one, Kath!

Nice one...
With the very kind permission of Kath and Jonathan, I'm momentarily hijacking their thread to post a drabble that I wrote 15 years ago (long before I'd even heard of a drabble) when my elder daughter was seven and openly questioning the existence of the Big Jolly Guy. It still resonates with me all these years later.Christmas Eve
Katie thought he was bound to tell the truth – fathers didn’t lie to their seven-year-old daughters.
He lied.
“Of course Father Christmas is real,” he said.
Katie turned away. She lay awake; deflated. Then she slept.
Hours later, someone was in her room – a man.
Dad had put on four stone and thirty years. . . no, an infinity. He gazed down at her and she stared back, half wondering why she wasn’t afraid. This man wasn’t her father.
He smiled a smile that told of love and deep wisdom. His voice resonated with compassion.
“Sleep child.”
Katie slept.
Katie believed.

not been here for so so long but this is fab. you lot just get better and better. I see I have a lot of catching up to do.
Behind the sixth door is a little tale from Kath. The Christmas Concert
Is there anything else so touching, funny or chaotic as a school Christmas concert? Shepherds wore sheets and towels, kings wore curtains and paper crowns and angels wore netting and tinsel. Joseph knocked on an imaginary door and a forgetful innkeeper rolled up his robe and took his ‘script’ from his pocket. "No room!" he read slowly.
In the stable, Joseph gently shook his wife, "Wake up, Mary. You've had a baby!" An awestruck tiny angel fell off the stage.
After ‘Away in a Manger’ very few eyes weren't moist. On stage, one or two pairs of pants were too.
Yep, summed up every Christmas concert I've ever attended. The wee ones are having their's next Monday. As I've been booked to work, I'll get to enjoy it.
Audrey, it's BRILLIANT to see you!
I'd also like to mention if anyone would like to share a Drabble they've written with us, please get Kath and Jonathan's permission first or post it in your author thread.
Seems the polite thing to do. :)
We'd be happy for any Christmassy drabble to be posted here. We'll keep the Advent Calendar ones in bold so you can see the daily offering but generosity is the Christmas spirit! :)
Yes, that captures the moment. It's our granddaughter's school nativity this afternoon. There won't be a dry seat in the house.

Thanks, Patti. Yes, to echo Kath, I'm happy for others to post festive drabbles here if they wish. The official advent calendar drabbles will be in bold to differentiate.
