MINI-CONTEST - the Naming Game

Hey all -
We need a better name for our writing contests! We can't just keep calling them "the first contest," "the second contest," etc. Well, we could, but that would be boring.
So please, post your ideas for what these contests should be called! Here's another way to think about it: when you're writing about your best or favorite story, and you describe it as "the winner of the ...", what kind of fun or important-sounding name should be used to finish that sentence? : )

For the first contest I suggest to be called "Tales from the writers mind" or " The storyteller contest"
I'll think to another names when I'll have more energy and chocolate...

What about the Writer's Mark? As in a mark of distinction, or mark of honor.

I've been thinking and I don't know how this sounds...what about the honor of a writer?

It's a little long...but it's interesting...I don't know, I'd have to think about that one for a while longer. Writer's Honor would be the other version, but that seems to imply something a little different, so I'm not convinced it's any better. What do you think, Grant?

I don't know. What about an acronym? That could be pretty cool?

Hmm.
A.A.H. (an author's honor);
W.C.W.C. (writer's cafe's writing contest, or writing contest by the writer's cafe);
T.W.M. (tales from a writer's mind);

Any of that sound interesting? Or should we just pick a fun word and then turn that into an acronym? : )

Oh, incidentally Grant, would it be cool with you if I used "Write Night" as a future event name? I don't think it works for the contest, but it gave me an idea for a group event that I think could be fun.

Yeah :) that would be awesome! We done a contest at university; we started writing at 12am right through until 12pm and the best story won. I wanted to call it 'Write Night' but it got called something else :( haha

@general - I like the Power of the Pen, but I'm not in love with the acronym version...probably because of the pop vs soda debate in this part of the world. : )

What about Laurels and Lines? Is that too fancy-shmancy? Or just too girly for that matter? : )

An atractive acronym...hmmm how about a simple one like hmmmm I don't know exactly how to explain...what about W.F.W.C.(write for world contest) or J.W.&W( just write and win)...these are not my brilliant ideas but I'll think more at a great acronim

Excuse me for being obtuse, but where does the 'Whistle' bit come in?

I had the same question - apparently it's whistle as the signal for the start of a race, or in this case, contest. Y'know, the "Ready, set, go!" sort of noise.

I know, it's as serious stretch - but the name is kind of fun nevertheless.
