I'm currently 11 chapters in.

So much better than Eleanor and Park. I don't know which she wrote first, but if it was Eleanor and Park and then Fangirl, there's clearly been growth on Rowell's part.

On the latter, I can empathize more with Cath, she seems to have kept some of her dignity at least. I also found her introversion and implosion more something I could personally identify with.
On remaining communicated with their mother, I can't blame Wren. She'd rather have something than nothing. Cath usually puts away anything too difficult to deal with, so she went and archived all possibilities of a relationship with her mother. Whatever floats their boat, I'm okay with. Although Lauren was antagonized quite a bit wasn't she. I don't have enough information to make out what I think of her. I usually like to give people the benefit of the doubt.
How about you?

Although saying that, I developed a soft spot for Art, which made what Lauren did even more awful. I can't understand how she would just leave... and the way they're life changed afterwards? I can't really blame Cath for not wanting to get hurt again either.
I think it was an interesting take one it because you ended up siding with both characters. That maybe there wasn't a right decision in this scenario.

Men leaving their children is a lot more common, and dare I say, more socially acceptable. So when I see a father, let alone a single father trying his hardest at raising children it warms my heart. I definitely developed a soft spot for Art as well.
She didn't want children, but she should have stepped up. And this is coming from someone whose adamant about not ever having children, seriously I'd probably suffer of postpartum depression if I ever did accidentally have one.
Here's a question, would a book from Wren's perspective be something you'd like to read?

How about you?

Wren herself isn't likable.
Even after being hospitalized for alcohol poisoning she had to be arm twisted into agreeing to her father's terms, she was unapologetic and slightly pretentious. And before that she's described as someone who likes to go through people, specifically boys, for reassurance.

Re-starting July 14th
It would be great if a mod changed the date, thanks :)

@Lisa - I already read that book and absolutely adored it! :D I don't expect this one to be as good, because E&A was...perfect.

Is anything happening in this book? I know it's supposed to be a life story and all, but even those have something happening in them. This book is about a shy loner that doesn't want to connect with people, because she likes her internet life better. So people need to drag her out of her shell. This could probably be an interesting story if it wasn't told from Cat's perspective and if it was not so slow paced. Cat is a boring character, the things she's doing are boring, this book is just boring.
Sorry guys, I can't go on with this book. Maybe if I'll have insomnia I'll read a chapter or 2, but so far, I've been sleeping just fine.
