I'm hoping this is one of the unsolved--didn't see it in the found list.

A young girl moves to the ocean with her family (?). She makes friends with a ghost named Amanda who turns out to be an evil ghost. I think the ghost is trying to get the girl to throw herself off a cliff into the ocean. If I'm not mistaken the story takes place in the British Isles or maybe New England area...This is as much as I can remember about the story; I read it back in the 90s so things are a little fuzzy.

Thanks, but no. I'm positive the ghost's name was Amanda--my daughter's name. The book was written before 87 the year she was born. I remember starting it before she was born and being a little creeped out that I'd picked out the same name for her...lol..so I set it aside only to run across it in the 90s. That's when I finished it. The book you mentioned wasn't written until the 90s. I thought that was the one a couple of years ago only to be disappointed.
