SOLVED. Girl finds "spell" looks like shiny trash then gets kidnapped [s]

I read this book in middle school, would have been in the early 2000s. It's about a young girl who goes to the supermarket and picks up a shimmery piece of trash outside. Come to find out, someone is following her, so she instinctively sets off the "spell" (the piece of shimmery trash) and explodes some stuff to get out of there. She then gets kidnapped and ends up in another dimension or something, finds out she was adopted and has a pet wolf familiar. I think she saves her world at the end but I don't really remember. Anybody got a title for me??
