The Randomiser Challenge - 2014
20/20 Woo Hoo!!! I really enjoyed this challenge and read some really good books that I had been putting off. :)#66:
10/05/14
Just completed my 14th selection - The Heist by Janet Evanovich. Entertaining and funny with great characters! All the best of Evanovich's writing style without the ditziness of some of her other characters. Worth reading! 4 stars14/15
Message 432 updated, I have completed 8/10 so far!I'd also like to say that I think this is a great general challenge and I hope this challenge can be repeated on the next list of yearly challenges! I would have signed up for more but I joined Goodreads halfway into the year :).
I have completed The Red Tent by Anita Diamant which is my 7th book for this challenge. Just 1 more to go.7/8
I just finished The Boy Who Dared by Susan Campbell Bartoletti which was my final book for this challenge so it is now complete :)8/8
I have completely neglected this challenge since April and feel mighty ashamed so with a month and a half to go before the end of the challenge I need to read 6 books for this on top of a couple of other book commitments I have going on but I'm going to give it all I've got!!
Just completed my 15th and final selection - The Chicago Way by Michael Harvey. Needless to say, I did not enjoy this book. The writing was a bad knock-off of old film noir and full of bad Chicago clichés. The characters were two-dimensional. I do not recommend and will not read any other books in the series. 1 star15/15 - Challenge completed!
congratulations to all who have completed this challenge. Also congratulations to every one else as well. You've been doing great work.

So the year is about to finish, some challenge are about to finish, but for sure the time is finishing. I am sorry to say that this time i will not manage to finish this challenge, maybe I was too ambitious, or maybe I just change it too much my reading plans, nevertheless here is my progress so far:66 - La delicadeza
49 - Books of Blood, Vols. 1-3
26 - Lost at Sea: The Jon Ronson Mysteries
13 - Secrets and Lies: A History of CIA Mind Control and Germ Warfare
43 - Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
16 - Island
24 - The Untold History of The United States
62 - The Book of Laughter and Forgetting
18 - Le Petit Nicolas Le Ballon
That mean that so far I have read 13/22 books. I will try to dedicate December to finish the other books, but I am sure that the 22 of them I will not manage. Hopefully next year I will manage to finish this challenge.

Kendra wrote: "I did no good on this this year. I think I'm going to try again for 2015 and see what happens."Good luck on your attempt for 2015 Kendra.
I finished this challenge on 10/05/14, but on page 1 of the thread, it still shows me as incomplete...
I finished "Boy Meets Boy". It was ok. It was not what I expected, though. It's a light teenage romance in a USA high school where half the school seems to be one of those letter: LGBT. The story takes place in a very open-minded town. What I was expecting was a more "serious" book about the hardship of adolescence, with the perspective of a homosexual boy. The book was not bad. It's actually great to have a normal silly love story about gay teenagers. All that being said, I'm not so much into vanilla romance, so I haven't been that much into it, no matter how much I think it was important that it was written. It's a 3 stars for me. Tough I recommand it if you're into love stories.
I'm rereading myself, and I feel like I sound like I don't know what to make of the book. Honestly, I don't. Part of me is jumping up and down cheering that it exist, the other one is just annoyed with the lack of realism. I can shake the second feeling. Somebody else read it? What did you think? I need to put words on my ambivalence.

I doubt I will read the four others books by the end of the year. I'm not that much in the mood for them, and I have so little time left. Well, maybe I'll be able to squeeze another one by the end of the month. I'll see.

Well done on your effort so far Nancy.
Zara thanks so much for leading this challenge. I ended up abandoning all of my challenges this year and completely stopped recording what I read. I am looking forward to a fresh start with 2015.
