I love this book. In fact, I love any book on or about Colin Powell. Even though we have different political views on most topics. Compete to win and Swagger Sticks are two very short chapters, but they spoke to me. Maybe it is a result of the my current job and the two years previous being in school. But I have come to embrace the competition aspect of the Air Force. I think we should do more of it. However, there is one thing that we have to make sure we do which Colin Powell points out. On page 153, he essentially says that competition is great, and winning is great, but the point is to improve our skills and capabilities. So competition drives us to be better. In the chapter titled Swagger Sticks, I hope to one day epitomize the type of command swag that he describes. One that says you are so in tuned with your unit and culture that you can command with a delicate touch (pg 159). I would love to hear your thoughts on this book... Its a fast read that I really enjoyed!!!
