Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments so I've read 230 books in 2013 and I'm supposed to pick 5? That's hard!
The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion would have been in there, but then I discovered I'd read it last December (advance copy from Text) so............
1 The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman
2. The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell
3. Burial Rites by Hannah Kent
4. 11/22/63 by Stephen King
5. Harper Connelly Mysteries Quartet by Charlaine Harris

I'd really like to go on, because that doesn't go far enough with books I really enjoyed this year:
Instructions for a Heatwave by Maggie O'Farrell , The Irresistible Inheritance Of Wilberforce by Paul Torday , The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult , Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn , Never Knowing by Chevy Stevens , Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson ,
Sweet Tooth by Ian McEwan , The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling , and I just finished Hand Me Down World by Lloyd Jones , all great reads!!

Hahahah!! I know what you mean Marianne! It's almost impossible to narrow it down when we read a lot isn't it:) But you've done well!

Yeah, I cheated with the Harper Connelly omnibus because it was 4 separate books but I really liked that series...

I agree it's hard to just pick 5, Marianne, and I didn't have anywhere near as many reads as you!! But I have also read 11/22/63,The Casual Vacancy and Major Pettigrew's Last Stand and they were all wonderful reads - Major Pettigrew didn't make my cut for 5, but the other two did.

Sally906 | 86 comments I've narrowed my list to a top 10 -- but can't even decide on my book of the year let alone a top 5 :(

I'll mull it over and choose between my children and do a top 5 tomorrow

I've been meaning to read something from Kate Forsyth for ages. I must get onto it soon.

I've heard nothing but praise for The Wild Girl & Bitter Greens :)

In your comment box (top RHS) it says "add book/author" - click on that, type in the book title/ISBN, hit "search". When the drop down box shows, choose your book and hit "add". It will automatically appear in the comment box. You can do the same with cover pic and author:) Let me know if you have trouble...
