Carriage 1: Compartment A

The barest hint of a smile crept up Kat's dark red lipsticked lips at Bradley's comment about Sage. "Only made worse when coupled with Alexa," she remarked wryly as she stepped inside the compartment. Realizing that Bradley was in fact following her inside, Kat hid her disappointment and simply scanned the room, looking for where her driver had placed Hel's glass tank. Spotting it almost immediately on one of the benches, she nodded in approval. Her little queen was coiled up and deathly still. Instead of continuing the conversation with Bradley, Kat simply walked over to the bench that had her tank and sat down next to it as she removed her kid gloves.

Bradley shrugged, unable to disagree. He plopped down on the bench across from Kat and put his arms up behind his head. "So, tell me more about your summer." Clearly, he didn't get that she didn't feel like talking to him. That, or he did and simply didn't care. Both were equally possible.

Bradley's name was on the list and under strengths, it said: POPULAR, OUTGOING, WELL LIKED AMONG HIS PEERS. Under weaknesses, it said: QUIDDITCH, GRADES?

Once she was inside the compartment, Val heaved a sigh of relief as she placed Einstein's cage down on the ground and giving her best friend a smile, she followed her towards the table where Kat had her homework neatly laid out on the surface. "Studying already?" Val grimaced.
"I never really stopped," Kat admitted.
"I don't know how you do it," the Gryffindor shook her head as she sat down across from the Slytherin, grabbing a handful of her auburn hair to inspect its tips. Val was a good student herself, but... Kat's obsession with her grades borderlined on ridiculous. "You need to get out more," she teased her friend to which Kat simply replied with a slight roll of her ice blue eyes. Shaking her ash blonde head, she said nothing in return but she smiled slightly nonetheless, secretly grateful that she could call Val friend without the risk that she would try to undermine her.

Bart tentatively entered the compartment. He was not nearly as confident with the prefects and Head Girl as he was with the drooling posse of female students that followed him everywhere. Having been a prefect before his appointment as Head Boy, Bart knew from experience that it wasn't a good idea to be unprofessional with the Head Girl and Boy. Even now, as Head boy, he still felt slightly intimidated by Kat Åkerstedt-Swanstrom, a girl whose reputation he had known since his first year. Gingerly, he placed his trunk on the rack above, and collapsed into the seat opposite Kat, attempting to avoid her eyes.

Kat was again grateful for her best friend's presence. It made her disinterest in speaking to people that much easier to placate.

The first compartment of Carriage 1. It can seat eight, but for comfort's sake, usually seats no more than six. This carriage is for prefects and the head boy and head girl only.
