Liz M 10.1 - Reading Resolutions: Trying to read more classics? Do you want to expand your horizons by reading books from other cultures? Looking to read more non-fiction? Is your reading dominated by dead white males? Tell us your reading resolution before Jan 1, 2014 (PST) for this task. This task can be repeated three times. This task cannot be used as combo points.

10.2 - Reindeer: For reindeer that really do know how to fly, read a book that has been shelved as fantasy at least 1000 times.

10.3 - Edgar Allan Poe: In honor of Edgar Allan Poe’s birthday, read a book by a detective fiction author .

10.4 - Chinese New Year; In honor of Chinese New Year, read a book with one of the astrological signs in the Chinese horoscope in the title: Tiger(s), Rabbit(s), Dragon(s), Snake(s), Horse(s), Goat(s), Pig(s), Dog(s), Rooster(s), Monkey(s), Rat(s), Ox(en).

10.5 - Goodreads authorized: Read a book written by a goodreads author. Hint: on your My Books page, goodreads authors have an asterisk* after their name.

10.6 - Beginnings/Endings: Read an author's debut book or most recently published book as of December 1, 2013.

10.7 - Keep it Short: Karen GHHS's task
Read a book that was a finalist or winner of The Story Prize, or
Read a book that was shortlisted for (or won) the Frank O'Connor Intn'l Short Story Award, or
Read a short story collection by an author that has won the PEN/Malamud Award, or
Read a short story collection by an author that was nominated for (or won) the Aurealis Award for young-adult short story, or an anthology containing the short story that was nominated for (or won) an Aurealis Award. Please include which list your book is on when posting this task!

10.8 - BINGO!: Cory (Bigler)'s task
In honor of December's designation as BINGO month, read a book written by an author whose name contains the letters "b i n g o" (such as Barbara Kingsolver or Stella Gibbons) OR read a book that has the letters "b i n g o" in the title (such as Troubling Love or Remembering Babylon).

10.9 - Nobel Prize: Theresa~OctoberLace's task
The Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to 110 Nobel Laureates between 1901 and 2013, and the new Nobel Laureate will be celebrated in December. Read a book written by an author that has won a Nobel Prize for Literature.

Liz M 20.1 - 1964: In honor of the number 50 (because it is a nice round number), read a book first published in 1964 or by an author born in 1964.

20.2 - Picaresque: In honor of Little Big Man, read a picaresque novel from the linked list.

20.3 - Post-Colonial: In honor of Arrow of God, read a book written by one of the post-colonial writers (any book written by the author, regardless of whether or not the specific title is included) on the linked list.

20.4 - Travel: In honor of A Moveable Feast, read one of one top 125 favorite travel books OR one of the top 90 traveling vicariously books .

20.5 - Disturbing: In honor of Last Exit To Brooklyn, read a book shelved at least five times as "disturbing" .

20.6 - 20th C: In honor of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, read one of the top 500 Best Books of the 20th Century .

20.7 - Group Reads Redux: Joanna's Task:
Read any book that was a group read prior to the Winter 2013/14 Challenge. They can be found on the RwS Read shelf.

20.8 - Disastrous Reading: Kate S's task
Read a non-fiction book about a disaster such as The Hurricane of 1900, the Triangle factory fire, the sinking of the Titanic, the Great Influenza of 1918, The Great Depression, or the Bhopal Industrial Accident. Ideas can be found on this list.

20.9 - Daytona 500: Elizabeth (Alaska)'s task
The Daytona 500, the biggest event in NASCAR, is held every February. Read a book that is at least 500 pages.

20.10 - Between the Wars: Liz M's task
Read a book written by an author born between the Civil War and WWI (1866-1913).
