Outside Reading Book Discussion

I am really enjoying my outside reading book, Out of Shadows. What really has intrigued me are all the unexpected twists they book takes. You never know what might happen next. It is set in South Africa just after a major war between Rhodesia and Zimbabwe, 2 bordering countries. It is still unclear what the Zimbabweans were fighting for, but it sounds like their freedom and independence. The main plot of the story, so far, is that when Robert Jacklin's family, previously from England, moves to Zimbabwe, he must find a way to fit it with the crowd. At his school, Robert has to deal with racism (most of the other kids are African American) and harassment from the kids around him. He has to choose who to be friends with and he must find the kids that he can trust. Also, Jacklin, as they call him, has to deal with a very sticky situation at home with predominantly his mother. I am really liking my book thus far and am excited to continue on with it for the rest of the month.
