Gamal Hennessy Writers generally word count to keep track of their progress in a story. Why? Does this method make sense or is it counter productive. I just finished an essay on the subject. Take a look and tell me What you think.

Gamal Hennessy Thank you sir. I also have a weekly newsletter that provides more publishing information than I can fit in my blog. If you're interested, you can find it here: http://bit.ly/1bbt4qA

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 2274 comments I think it's just something writers like to keep in mind, to have a set goal of words to their stories. Although I realized that after thinking 29,000 words was alot it only translated to 142 pages. Next time I'm setting the goal much higher.

I agree with Humberto though Gamal, you always come up with interesting topics that really gets youu to think. Keep it up!.

Vardan Partamyan (vardanpartamyan) | 429 comments To me, the number of pages matters not - the story does. Do I really care whether my work will be called a novel, a novella or a short story? It is what it is - it is the tale I want to tell and it is the tale that needs that many words to tell - not less, not more.
