Someone is using this group to send spam invites for a free book. I've reported it and am wondering if others are, too.

I got it as well, twice in two days. I blocked her. I was already thinking about leaving this group.
I haven't seen anything for this group yet, but I see that regular members can send Event invites out. Moderators can change this setting by going to Settings and un-check "Non-moderators can add events". They can also uncheck the other two settings: "Non-moderators can add books to this group's shelf" and "Non-moderators can create polls" to prevent further spam.
Please mods set the group to don't allow members to create eventsJackie is right! Do it!
and kick out that one sending it
I got it too, the event invite
very annoying
-.-"
spammers are everywhere
I just received a spam but checked and the author isn't a member of this group nor in any other group that I belong to...As it was for a genre that I don't read and haven't reviewed I can't understand why she sent a PM request to me. I declined, but very politely.
I've just checked the events and there are three spamming ones so I've set it to mods only can create events. If anyone does want to send out an event invite, contact me and we can work it out.

The spammer is Rachel Roberts. Her book is free on Amazon and hilariously bad. Do not drink hot coffee whilst reading it. If anyone writes a review please let me know. I will certainly write one but I'm not sure how much of it I can get through before I do.

What reasonable person would even think that use of a group event function would be appropriate to spam... erm, promo... their book the entire membership? *smh*
Mods, would it be too much to ask that the offenders be blocked?
I deleted, blocked and flagged her. I turned off events except for mods. Punishing the majority because of a few BBAs. Sound familiar? That's the GR culture these days.
I feel left out of the spamfest :( I checked my email, but didn't receive anything. It's possible that she knowingly targeted her spam, which makes it even worse. Unfortunately, this kind of event spamming is not new but it seems like it's becoming more frequent. Makes me wonder if an author got the word out on the events section of groups.
I didn't get anything either, but I suspect I've got my settings done in such a way as to not allow it. I don't think I've ever gotten an invite that didn't come directly from GR - and thankful I am for it too! :)

I got three of them, you can have one of mine.
I don't know about it being targeted, I've got my profile set to private so it's not like she could have looked at my shelves to see if I'd be interested in her crap book.

They might have. After all, according to the First Cheerleader, it is perfectly fine and you can't have a higher authority than her! *sucks teeth*
Thankfully I didn't get the email, but on the main Everything Booklikes page, beneath the Discussions, there is a section for Events with three listings for the spammy book's events, one with a big picture. It makes it look like it's an event for the group. Is there a way that can be removed?
*sigh* anyone can create an event, why would someone annoy a whole group of people by creating a fake group event?
AH wrote: "Did anyone get a response from GR about this?"I started a thread about a beyond-obnoxious spam invite I got through another group; I posted on November 3. No staff response there.
