The key to a new school is to blend. Blend into the wall. Blend into the floor. Blend into the crowed. Blend into the class, just be another face passing by. A face no one can remember once it is gone. I have perfected this technique. At the age of three we had moved for the first time. At the time I didn’t understand it, it was just an adventure, something fun we were trying. Then at five in the middle of my kindergarten year we moved again, then again at the end of first grade year, and not even three months into my third grade year we moved again. You get the pattern by now, so here I am just turned seventeen, a junior in high school, and I have moved more than fifteen times. So like I said I had perfected blending.













~*~ Chapter 1 ~*~

The rain beat down on the slick hood of my black rain coat. I reached into the pocket of my black skinny jeans to pull out my iPod touch and change the song. My black converse all star high tops moved as I tried to keep warm causing the water to jump at me in attempt to soak the legs of my jeans and make me colder than I already was. New York, the latest stop in the life I liked to call mine. I looked over my standard first day of school clothes. It was basically all black or grey, but because this was New York (the true city high class part) I had worn a nicer shirt. It was a thin black lace with a grey embroidered tank underneath. This would pass for flash enough without drawing attention to how fashion forward I was but not scruffy enough to cause looks of pity.
I small yellow cab pulled up in front of me. I grabbed the door and yanked it open quickly and climbed in. mom had called a cab or me this morning and I had accepted not wanting to walk around alone in New York just yet. But there was the thing I had not predicted to happen, rain. Not even two minutes ago the weather was fine, but now it was pouring ( I like to think it was New York crying for me having to start new again).
“Were to?” the cabbie asked in a clipped annoyed voice. I took in the Ney York accent before talking; my southern drawl seemed really pronounced here.
“Angelus delapsus high school, please.” I tried to give a southern belle smile but it didn’t help.
I sighed and slipped down farther into my seat and waited out the twenty minute ride. When we pulled into a gated building I almost yelped in surprise. There was a big open common ground outside with flowers and a small duck pound. The land was beyond what i had seen in New York so far. This building was open inviting unlike the hustle of the street just outside. And the building had an older university feel, while not gothic but not modern but somewhere in between.
I looked at the cabbie as if to ask if this was really where I was going to school. he gave a soft chuckle. “First day at school?” he asked suddenly sympathetic.
“Try first week in New York.” I said grabbing my black messenger bag. He looked me over real quick then gave a reassuring smile.
“Don’t worry you will fine.” And with that I was out of the cab and little did I know it about to start a whole new way of life.

I can understand wanting to know ppls reactions. U know wat u shud do... (if u haven't already) Join some of the writing clubs on here and see wat ppl think of ur writing. That's wat i do. U can get some really honest feedback and advice
