Livy, in the general folder there's a thread about book recommendations. There are some really good suggestions there.

Another suggestion is to look at Goodreads.com's top rated books and start from there. Or just browse a bookstore or library and pick up anything that seems interesting to you. You won't always like everything you read but hopefully you'll stumble upon some wonderful surprises.
