Lena honestly felt bad about leaving Lucas behind he was just there to give her company and make her feel better, wasn't he? Instead of going back to her room, as she'd told Lucas she wandered into the Garden. It was actually a mistake at first, she was lost, but then she decided to stay there. She aimlessly walked through the trees, and flowers and sat down on a bench next to a huge pond, with fishes of various colours and trees surrounding her. This place was beautiful, why hadn't she come here before?

Matthew's expression of elation changed to one of perplexity. "What?" he asked. "I swear, what is it with girls? One moment you're all lovey- dovey, and the next you're as cold as friggin' Antarctica or something. Somehow you just went from hugging me to complete isolation and irritancy. What about Phoenix? Does that really matter right now? The fact that you're bringing this up now... it's completely irrelevant." he crossed his arms over his chest childishly and returned the same hostility towards Lena as she was showing towards him. "I mean, yeah, Phoenix is my girlfriend, if you want to call her that. But you know, as well as I do and everyone else does that we can't really be, um, you know, together. The prince and a servant? Our relationship will go nowhere. We'd have to break up eventually, whether we were found out about or not. We have completely different positions here that aren't exactly compatible for each other. You should know, since you can't exactly be with Alex." he narrowed his eyes at Lena, his tone growing accusatory as he said the name Alex.

((( I'm such a plot twister omg I FEEL SO POWERFUL YAY )))

(( AND HOLY SHIZ LENA OHMIGOSH NOOOOOOOO WHY D': OK OK MATTHEW WILL MAKE NICE NOW ))
As Matthew made his way to his usual meeting spot with Phoenix, he tensed as he heard soft footsteps behind him. He inhaled deeply, collecting as much patience and self- restraint to not say or do anything else to Lena, since he assumed that was who it was coming up behind him and slowly spun around on his heels. Matthew's eyes widened in surprise as he realized it wasn't Lena, but rather an informant, who, apparently, was here to bring him news. His expression of confusion quickly transferred to one of suspicion and an annoyed look danced across his face.
"And to what do I owe this pleasure?" Mathew asked sardonically before the informant reached him, but his voice faltered as he observed the grim look on the informant's face.
"My lord." he humbly bowed. "I have been ordered to deliver to you some rather unpleasant news. There was some disturbance back in Princess Lena's country (sorry I forgot what it was called). To be specific, both her parents, the king and queen, were successfully assassinated. The whole country is devastated and they're requesting her back immediately as Queen, to replace her parents position. You and your brother Lucas are to return with her and keep her safe. Thus says the King." he bowed again and hurried away.
"What?!" Matthew exclaimed, outraged. He clenched his fists then unclenched them repetitively, taking long, deep breaths in and out to calm himself. What? How? When? Why? He was sure Lucas could take care of Lena himself, in more ways than regarding safety.

She never had a moment to herself, between visiting the King and Queen, and collecting their condolences, and then sitting prey to sympathy. "Yes, thank you" she muttered to the man who now sat in front of her. Apparently, he was one of the Court Ministers, and he'd come to "make her feel better" as soon as he'd heard about the assasination. She detatched herself from the man's tight grip and wandered through the caste dismayed. It wasn't even as if she felt anything, she was numb, and she hadn't shed a tear since she'd first heard that morning. She was broken out of her reverie when she felt Alex's warm body press into her, and lift her into a tight hug. "I'm so sorry, Len" he whispered against her ear, his lips brushing her earlobe. "I wanted to come as soon as I heard, but I wasn't in the Kingdom and..." he trailed off, probably realising that either she understood, or wouldn't forgive him no mater how long he talked for.
"I understand, it's fine" she reassured quickly, and pulled back from the hug. They were in a lone part, probably the maid's old quarters, before they were abandoned, she had no idea how they'd gotten here. She was just about to ask him how he'd found her, when she felt his insistent lips on her own, and her back pressed against the wall with his soft hands on her waist. She kissed him back with all that she had, trying to explain what she was feeling on the inside right now. As usual, the kiss led to something more inappropreite and Lena had enough self restraint to stop them from going to far.
Alex had his shirt off, and Lena was in her slip on the hay, "Alex..." she murmured brushing his hair off his face. "We can't" she added getting up.
"I know" Alex sighed, buttoning his shirt again, as she put on her dress, she could still feel his warm, soothing hands on her bare back travelling. "I feel worse" she muttered and Alex groaned. They'd had a long fight just a few minutes before the make out, about how she'd gotten her bruises. She'd honestly told him, and he'd completely lost it, bloodthirsty. Only after he'd promised to let the whole situation go, did they continue.
((( Sorry, my keybord kind of broke after I spilled coke on it, and I haven't sent it to get fixed yet. So there are a lot of typos, and what not. )))

As he was walking back to his room, Matthew stumbled upon Lucas, who was clearly in a much better mood to this situation than he was himself.
"Why hello, brother." Lucas greeted cheerfully. Matthew was vexed as to why Lucas was in such high spirits, despite the gloomy air that had enveloped the castle at hearing of the death of Lena's country's king and queen. "Are you as excited for this trip as I am? I cannot believe I finally get the opportunity to leave this country and visit another one!"
Oh. Right. Matthew had forgotten that Lucas never had the opportunity to travel, and had resided in Topia all nineteen years of his life. That would explain his joyous state.
"My word, Lucas. You sound so childish. It's very unflattering. I would recommend you to try not to act like an overexcited little child and perhaps a tad bit jubilant, in case Princess Lena mistakes your eagerness for travelling to be euphoria of her parents' death. But yes, I am excited. Are you on your way to pack now?"
"I am. And I suppose you are as well?" Lucas inquired.
"Aye, that I am." Matthew agreed. "Well, I shall see you shortly. Now, now I will be off to prepare myself for this trip."
The two brothers smiled at each other, and departed back to their own rooms. Something stirred in Matthew's chest, and he felt more relaxed and happy, his heart seemingly lighter. Mayhap this trip wouldn't be so bad after all. Maybe he'd get the chance to right his wrongdoings to Lena. He'd find a way to apologize and make things right between them, he was sure.
Once he arrived at his room, Matthew got straight to packing his belongings; enough to keep him content for the few days they would be gone. He decided on a few more casual outfits, two bedtime wears, along with two fancier outfits. After he had obtained his clothing, he started for some accoutrements: a pocketful of currency, some blank paper to write or draw on along with a few writing utensils, and some of his favorite books.

Finally, Lena had detached herself from Alex and had made her way back to her room.
"See you later" she murmured in his ear as they hugged outside her room.
"It'll be okay, Len" he replied stroking her hair, she knew he was trying his best to comfort her, it wasn't his kind of thing so she managed a smile for him.
"I'm fine, or I will be once everything settles down" she says sighing, she tried not to make her smile too forced.
She could feel him nodding, his slight stubble brushing against her ear. She pulls away, and retreats back into her room, giving Alex one last reassuring smile. She lets her hand maidens dress her for home, she honestly looked like a Queen now. She was wearing a white, lace dress that dragged on behind her. It left her shoulders bare, and had puffed up laced sleeves. On top of that she had a maroon silk drop, that gave her stark white dress some colour. It was perfect for a funeral, and an announcing. White for the funeral, and maroon to show her royalty. A white necklace that emphasized her pale complexion and her collar bones. Her hair was down up in curls, that cascaded down her shoulders, and framed her face. Her make up was fairly plain, with dark, smoky eyes and red lips she thought she looked perfect. She hoped she wouldn't cry and make the make up run.
She finally was escorted out, and into her carriage, supposedly the same one as Alex, Lucas, and Matthew she winced, this would not go well.
((( It looks a mix of these two dresses,

I'll reply later. I don't like typing longer comments on my iPad ))

"Princess?" Matthew stepped up behind Lena, walking slightly behind and to the left of her. His tone was somewhat cautious and apologetic, and he waited for her to answer. "I'd like a moment to speak with you privately, if you don't mind. Sooner rather than later, but I can understand if you're not too fond of the idea of associating with me, so I'll wait until you're ready." Stepping up to walk beside her, Matthew took a sideways glance at Lena. Something stirred inside of him; something that made him smile. God, she looks so beautiful right now. It's incredibly sad, this situation that she has to be in right now, but this vulnerable state she's in right now makes her shine even more than she usually does. Like a...
"...Goddess."
Matthew suddenly froze and his face flushed, embarrassed. He nervously shifted his jaw and moved forwards again to walk beside Lena, hoping she didn't hear it or possibly assume it was about her.

Lena stiffened when she heard Matthew's voice, "Of course, my lord" she replies formally. Not the time for emotions, not right now. If she let one out, she was afraid the dam would burst and she'd drown in her misery. She could feel his soft gaze on her, and she tried not to blush. She couldn't help but wondering what he thought of her. Goddess. The word repeated itself in her mind, a hundred times, a thousand times, a million times. Bouncing around in her head, trying to find it's way into her heart.
She blushed scarlet red, and tilted her head so he couldn't see. Maybe he was talking about someone else? But the thought was so tiny, it got pushed down under her joy.

I should be on more. I got my phone and iPad taken away, but hopefully this computer will stay working so I can get on Goodreads more. Sorry it's taking so long to reply. :( ))
The two young royals finally reached the carriage, and, attempting to be polite and gentlemanly, Matthew opened the carriage door for Lena, bowing and moving his hand up in a sweeping motion pointing inside the carriage. "My lady. After you." he said humbly, waiting until she had stepped inside. He slid into the seat beside her, silently admiring her dress. Actually, he was admiring her in general, more than the dress. Soon joining them was Lucas, who looked as regal as ever, dressed in all stark whites, adorned with golden tassels on the shoulders and a rich red cape. White was the traditional grieving color in their country, instead of the common black.

Lena smiled politely and sat down knowing she'd be sandwiched between Matthew and Lucas. Sighing, she twirled one of her perfect curls around her finger awkwardly. She was just about to ask him what he wanted to talk to her about when Lucas walked in. "Matthe-" she was cut off as the door opened. Forcing a smile her these couldn't help but brighten at Lucas. He was the image of perfection, his outfit crisp and clean. He had a friendly air around him, the two brothers, Matthew and him were so unlike. Putting her feelings aside, she focused on her future. ((( Sorry it's so short. =( )))

haha but seriously no it's fine and I'm legit this is the only roleplay I'm continuing since I've gotten back.
sorry to have kept you waiting so long. :c
and no you're fine; length doesn't really matter. ))
Lucas cleared his throat. "So, Lena..." he began awkwardly, not wanting to trigger an emotional response. He knew if he started a conversation with her, no matter how strong she may be, he should probably tread carefully around areas regarding her kingdom or her parents' unfortunate death. "How did you enjoy the stay here?" he winced inwardly, realize how lame he sounded.
Matthew turned his head towards Lena, the faintest trace of a smile on his face, hopeful, but it immediately vanished when she stopped herself as Lucas slipped inside the carriage and joined them. Looking perfect as always. Ugh. Of course. Leave it to Lucas to always screw things up.
(( so I started watching the Vampire Diaries and they're pretty good YAAAAAA ))

Lena rolled her eyes trying not to laugh, this was so awkward but so funny. "My stay here was a classic tragedy" she replied trying not to offend any of them. She was awfully tired and just wanted to sleep. She leaned against Lucas who looked soft, and closed her eyes sighing.
((( Can we skip to when they reach? )))

The carriage slowly rolled to a stop, and both brothers wasted no time to get out of the carriage, trying to beat the other at the chance to politely escort Lena out of the carriage. Each prince bowed slightly and offered their outstretched hands to her. Matthew, always the younger and more immature, screwed up his face at Lucas when he was sure Lena wasn't looking.

Lena was starting to get out of the carriage when she was forced to make an awkward discussion. She stares at the two, beautiful guys in front of her and sighs not wanting to offend either of them. Finally she smiles coming up with a solution. She steps down gracefully without taking either of their hands, independence at it's finest she thought. Not wanting to hurt either of their feelings she murmurs her thanks.
Lena straightens up, and faces ahead. Her two helpers, by her side. Up ahead was her future, her past, and her present. The giant castle loomed above them all, with vast and beautiful gardens surrounding it. Fountains of various sizes, trees, and flowers. Bushes full of fruits and flowers. It all looked so beautiful. The path to the castle was decorated with a gold carpet, the royal colour of their country with soldiers lining it on either side. Beyond that, crowds stood in await of their future Queen.
Lena started walking and was met with solemn greetings, and the customary welcome. The crowds seemed anxious, and sullen. The country was in mourning.

Matthew stared after Lena as she gracefully turned down both of the brothers. The faintest hint of a smile played on his lips and he headed after her, flanking her on the right with Lucas on her left. He wiped his face void of emotion as he glanced around the castle. Matthew was certainly in awe of the kingdom, but felt it out of place to show anything other than sorrow under the circumstances.
Lucas blinked, twice, in surprise at being passed up, but the fact that it wasn't just him, but his brother Matthew as well slightly compemsated for that fact. He gently shut the door to the carriage and strode up behind Lena, keeping his pace in sync with hers. He allowed himself the privilege to glance down at her a few times, never getting over how beautiful she was. Strong, too. And not just physically. She was incredibly strong for having to take over this responsibility, and by herself, as well. A woman. He knew she'd do quite well.

Lena was led through a series of customs, the honarary flag raising and the tour of the grounds. She was given the schedule of the evening and then had to witness it. The royal crowning, the dinner, the interviews and she went through all of it with a smile on her face and enthusiasm in her voice. She was the Queen after all, she had to be strong for her country. For her parents.
Finally, the evening had come to it's last event. The big coronation dance. The gianormas ballroom was full of waiters with wine glasses, beautiful dresses, and fine tailored suits. Lena stood at the front of the room, Alex at her side. One of the court advisers came up to congratulate her. "Now that you're Queen, it's time for you to choose your willing partner, Your Royal Highness" he said bowing slightly. Lena stiffened and glanced quickly at the three guys who were more than willing. She laughed dryly, and that was her answer.

Lucas almost choked. Matthew stood there with a smug look on his face.
No way. Lucas thought. Okay, okay, he knew that she would need a king eventually, but now?! After all she's been through, and they're pressuring her into it right now?! The thought was absurd. As much as he wanted Lena-- or, more formally now know as, Queen Lena-- to choose him, he certainly didn't expect her to.
Matthew stared at Lena expectantly. Certainly she didn't desire his uptight brother. He wouldn't be any fun. As for her side man-- Alex, was it?-- it would not be a very sensible decision. The only thing that would work for them was their love. He didn't offer much else. He didn't even have a kingdom. Meanwhile, if she chose him, she would have fun and the benefit of their kingdoms as allies.

The Minister gave her a knowing look, and walked away. Lena took a deep breath and glanced at Alex who had a far off look on his face. Sighing she stepped forward trying to shake off the claustrophobic feeling that was threatening to take over. "Anybody want to dance?" She asked the guys behind her, turning in a sweeping fashion. She really wasn't in the mood, but dancing always brightened her up. Hopefully it wouldn't fail her.

"Milady." Matthew said, bowing deeply. He straightened himself up and offered his hand to Lena. He knew he'd be lucky if she accepted. He just wanted to right things between them.
Lucas almost scoffed. He didn't really expect Lena to engage in any sort of physical contact or activity with him after what he had previously done to her, did he?
"What do you think of Matthew?" Lucas whispered surreptitiously to Alex who was standing right beside him.

Alex groaned, "I think he succeeds his reputation as being an arrogant arse" he says, watching Lena and Matthew with the acuteness of an eagle. "He doesn't deserve Lena, and he needs to keep his hands off her" he adds getting grumpier.

Matthew interlaced his fingers with Lena's staring at her almost intensely, captivated by her beauty. She never ceased to amaze him, and he never got tired of looking at her.
"Princess, I, ah, mean Queen Lena..." Matthew began, but he never got the chance to finish, as he was cut off by a loud racquet. Confused, he looked around him and saw four black, shady characters descend from the ceiling above them by ropes. Two of them roughly grabbed Lena and were immediately started to be pulled back up. Two more made their way down, and threatened anyone who challenged their plan to abduct the princess.
"Lena!" Matthew shouted.
(( sorry if that doesn't make any sense. I wasn't sure how they should kidnap her I dunno I dunno I dunno I dunno ))

Lena was just starting to enjoy herself when she was pulled back. Two guys surrounded her in masks, each one took one arm and pulled her. "Get off!" She protested trying to pull away but her dress didn't allow much movement. She tried to elbows one of them but received a sharp elbow to the back. She closed her eyes for a second, she didn't want to die. Her country needed her, "where are you taking me?" She asked surprised her voice sounded so sure and smooth.

"Shut up." One of them snapped. "You don't get to ask any questions around here. And if you want to stay in one piece, and want to see your country stay in one piece as well, I suggest you do what we say." Somehow the black cloaked, masked figures had made it up into the ceiling. They moved forwards for some time, until the one who seemed to be the leader of this mission held a hand up and everyone else stopped. It tapped it's foot gently on the floor three times, then stomped, and the ceiling gave way. The opening was a perfect circle, like it had been planted there already.
"Ladies first." A gruff voice whispered in Lena's ear, then pushed her through the hole, following right after. Of course, they weren't free falling. Someone had attached an accessible rope for them to slide down.
Meanwhile, everyone else at the castle who had been there and witnessed the abduction of their newly coronated Queen flew into panic. All except Matthew, Lucas, and Alex.
"Alex." Lucas nudged him. "You know this country best. I suggest you should settle them down and try to take control. Make order or something, yeah? Matthew and I will go try to find Lena."

Alex stared after her as she disappeared, not believing that she was really gone. He'd just gotten her back. He was still staring when Lucas nudged him, of course. Country first, he had to control them. Even though he didn't want to let Matthew and his brother go after Lena on their own, he knew that he was the only one capable of calming down this disaster struck country. He nods once to Lucas, before forcing himself to walk up to the stage like platform. "People of Illea, I need you all to calm down" he starts realising how bad that sounded. "I assure you, that Queen Lena will be brought back immediately, this is just a scare tactic they're using to break our country apart" he continues trying remain calm. It certainly helped that everybody was quieting down, and looking out to him. "This is an official lockdown, please make your way back to your houses and stay inside. Lock the doors, and windows. We will keep you all informed." He adds as a final touch, and almost as soon as the last word leaves his mouth everybody turns around and hurries out. One of the minister's rushes up to him and asks him for advice, and soon he's surrounding by officials trying to seek help. One even calls him King, sighing he obliges. He'd take care of Illea while Lena was away, then when she returned she's see how much he loved her and they could be together. Forever.
