Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments Lena's shoulders slumped in relief, and she smirked. "Good, I wouldn't have married you otherwise" she said as if she had a choice she thought bitterly trying to chase away the thought. Not now, not ever she reminded herself, she had to forget those thoughts. This was going to be her life from now on.
Even though she still thought he was way too old for her, it was considered an "appropriate" age distance by her parents and possibly his.
"What if I told you I was 15?" she asked, some people had mistook her for being that young of an age, though personally she didn't think it was that believable.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments Matthew looked her over carefully, his eyes travelling up and down her body. "I wouldn't believe it." he decides, his eyes meeting hers again. "But if you were telling the truth, I wouldn't like it either." Marry someone who was fifteen? The idea was preposterous; absurd. So was the arranged marriage between them, but someone four to five years his junior? That just made it worse. "So, are you?" he asked.

message 53: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments She sighs and shakes her head,
"Almost 17 actually but that doesn't really make it any better does it?" trying to hide the blush that had spread across her cheeks at his wandering eyes. Stop it! she scolded herself. "Almost 3 years younger than my husband" she muttered under her breath, her fists clenching. Yet another reason why this marriage was the worst idea in the world. The only good one might be the fact that Matthew was so.. Appeasing.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments Matthew shrugged, neither smiling nor frowning. "Not much, but better than fifteen." he offered, trying to lighten the mood. "And future husband." he corrected with a smile, rubbing his palms together. Any little occurrence where he could correct her or be right about something, no matter how insignificant, he would take the opportunity to prove her wrong. It was just fun to mess with her like that.

message 55: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments "Yeah, well it's not like it would get called off or anything" she tells her crossing her arms over her chest. "Not even if I wanted to" she says softer, regretting it the minute the words leave her mouth. She hoped she said it softly enough so he didn't hear. No matter what her feelings for him she didn't want to hurt him or his little dainty feelings.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments Not even if I wanted to. A muscle in Matthew's jaw jumped, but he made no attempt to let her know that he had heard it or it bothered him. Did it? Why? He didn't even like her that much. "Lighten up, Lena." Matthew smiled and pulled her arms away from her chest and pulled her along with him. "Don't worry about it. What's done is done, and neither of us had a say in this, okay? At least try to enjoy yourself around me, please. I feel guilty with you all mopey and upset like this." But he knew how she felt, and he could sympathize with her. He wasn't too thrilled on this whole involuntary marriage idea, either.

message 57: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments Lena laughs but you could tell it was completely forced. "Who said I was upset lover boy?" she asks him smiling and trying at a joke. Maybe he would forget about it. Maybe she would too. "I know you're not upset, why would anyone once they're seen all this" she says laughing gesturing at her body. She pulls him along this time, she didn't know where but it felt awkward just standing in one place the entire time.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments Matthew laughed, almost genuine, but not quite. "I have to admit, Lena, you are a beautiful girl, but I've seen- and been with- better." his eyes travelled up her body again, though, studying her. "I hate to break it to you, but, oh, wait, no, I really don't: you're not really the best. Sure, you're up there in the ranks somewhere, but I know that there's better." he switched them again, so he was pulling her along.

message 59: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments "Excuse me" Lena scoffs staring up ahead at him. "Well you're no Prince Charming either" she says crossly. She was known as the beauty queen and for him to even have the nerve! She shakes her head and laughs, he knew exactly how to get to her and she wouldn't let him. "Well of course, but I don't have to pay my lovers to spend the night with me".

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments "Well, I guess neither of us are perfect, then." Matthew chuckled. "But that's a shock to me. I mean, who would want to stay with someone like you for the night? It's hard enough for me to spend time with you right now, and I can't even imagine what it's going to be like, since we'll have to spend the rest of our lives together." he reached over to grab her hand, knowing her reaction would be none to pleased.

message 61: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments "What" Lena practically sputters staring at him disbelievingly. "Yeah, why don't you ask your older brother married brother that. He didn't have a problem with it the last time he visited" she replies smirking, it was after almost true. They hadn't slept together, no but it had gotten quite close to that. She of course protecting her, and his reputation had stopped it before it got out of hand specially because she knew she was already engaged to his younger brother. That'd be really awkward to explain. She lets him hold her hand for a second or two before snatching it away.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments ((He has an older brother? Okay.))

Matthew raised an eyebrow with interest at Lena. "Oh, Johnathan? He's twenty three. And you were just worried about marrying someone three years your senior?" he shook his head sadly and clicked his tongue. "I didn't peg you as a hypocrite, Lena, but I guess it's true what people say about married couples; you get to find things out about your spouse you didn't really know." he smirked at her. "But Johnathan will be there for the wedding, so you guys can have a nice little reunion. Maybe I'll even invite him to spend the night, or a few. How does that sound?"

message 63: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments (( Haha, yeah apparently I made him up a a minute ago. We could take him out if you want =) )))

Lena stares at him in disgust. "Marrying someone, and sleeping with someone are two different things. No one asked me to sleep with you" she says and realises what exactly she was implying at the last minute and shakes her head. "Not that I would want to" she quickly adds not wanting to give him the wrong idea. She smirks at the ground looking away and remembering a couple months ago when Johnathan had come to visit, that was fun while it lasted. Of course that was before Alex confessed his love for her, she hers for him.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments ((No, that's fine.))

Matthew chuckled. "You're funny when you're embarrassed, and it's even funnier when you humiliate yourself." he paused before they entered the dining hall and stopped in front of her. "So you and Johnathan don't have anything then? I can come in and claim you for myself?" he smiled. "Look at it this way, Lena. You're going to be stuck with me for a while, and I'll be stuck with you for a while, so lets try to make it at least worthwhile, alright? Just pretend we aren't enemies, and we aren't supposed to get married, that we're just friends."

message 65: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments "Friends who have to have sex? What exactly is your definition of friends Matthew?" she asks smiling sweetly up at him. It wasn't that he was much taller than her, but there was a couple of inches distance between them. "But sure, we can be the best of friends" she says linking her arm through his and turning him around to the expectant face of Alex who just happened to be wandering around the castle this time of the day. Lena froze and almost swore but controlled herself averting her eyes.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments The smile left Matthew's face, replaced by a scowl. "Don't make this more difficult, Lena. I'm as much against this marriage as you are, but I'm trying to make things work, okay?" he continued walking along with Lena, but he noticed it when she froze. His eyes scanned the area around them, and they almost passed Alex, but he pulled his gaze back to him. "Ah." he said knowingly, glancing down at Lena.

message 67: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments Lena didn't frowned. "I= I have to do something, wait here for me" she told Matthew not exactly meeting his eyes. "Friend" she muttered under her breath turning around and pulling Alex out of the room before any one could say or object. Around the corner she turned to Alex and hugged him holding back her tears even though she was on the verge of them. "It wasn't my choice, and you know how much I hate it" she whined against his shoulder. His arms encircled her and breathed in his woodsy, musky smell. Alex. After they finished talking, and... Well mostly talking she straightened her dress running back to where Matthew was waiting. "I'm uh- done my errand" she informed him looking happier than before.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments Matthew's eyes searched Lena's face for any sign of where she'd gone or what she'd done, what her so-called errand was, but she was cool and composed, giving away nothing. "Shall we go then, friend?" he asked, extending his arm out to her, giving her a small, courteous bow. When he stood up, his eyes scanned over the area behind her, searching for that boy he'd caught Lena looking at, but he was gone.

message 69: by Sab (last edited Nov 20, 2013 04:57PM) (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments "Where exactly do you want to go?" she asked him once she'd taken his arm and they were out of the Dining Hall. It had taken them at least 5 minutes to get from once side to another. "We could go back to the Greeting Hall" she suggested defeated. She knew they had to face their parents sometimes and finalize the date of the wedding, it was supposed to be a grand event which didn't at all sound grand or exciting. She pressed herself closer to him unconsciously it was the same she would have done with Alex, or really any guy she was walking with it was a bad habit of hers she had to break.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments "Then that's where we should go." Matthew nodded a reply distractedly. "I suspect that dinner will be ready soon, but that's just my assumption; I don't live here, this is your castle. So how much longer do you think until it is time for us to eat?" he heard his stomach growl with hunger.

message 71: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments Lena tried for a laugh but failed and abandoned her mission. "Well, at least another hour we don't have dinner until 9" she tells him leading him in the direction of their unforgiving parents. They're probably call them the "love birds" and make up stories about how they both were probably rolling around on the floor outside. She sighs, "I'm sorry about earlier, honestly I do want to make this entire event easier".

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments "Okay. Well, with that time we have on our hands," Matthew looked at her. "Do you have a secret place, you like to go to be alone? Or just someplace you like to go, or be alone at?" Or with that boy I spotted earlier. "If you want, we could go there, and, you know, talk." he shrugged. "That's what friends do, right?"

message 73: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments Lnea smiles and runs the idea over in her mind. She really didn't want to be sharing these personal places with him but that would be a great start to they "friendship" she finally nods and pulls at his sleeve. "Come on, I'll show you" she mumbles heading towards the marvelous marble and obsidian stairs. They spend at least 10 minutes trying to get there, but finally Lena taken out a key from one of her hidden pockets in her dress and opens the a door in the wall. You wouldn't know it was there unless you already knew it. Inside it was a large room surrounded by books and bookshelves, book were littered on the floor. There were two beautiful sofas, and Persian rugs on the floor. Lena sits down on the floor crossing her legs under neath her. "I hate dresses" she mutters.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments Matthew didn't hear her- he was too busy looking at all of the books. His eyes wandered around the room, taking it all in. Most of his books were in the Library, and he wasn't allowed to keep very many for himself. But this, this was astounding. It was a little known fact that Matthew loved to read. Something about him he preferred went unknown. "How did you find this place?" Matthew finally spoke, but he still didn't look away from the books. He pulled out and looked at the cover, and opened it to a random page, then put it back.

message 75: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments Lena smiled,"A friend found it for me, he kept bringing me books to read. This was and still is my safe haven" she murmurs lying down, and staring up at the ceiling which was littered with paintings Alex had painted and stuck up there. She loved looking at the ones of her, and the castle, some were of him, but most were of the night. "I used to come here whenever I was upset or bored but now I come here a lot. Usually I'm hiding from my parents" she continues almost to herself. She going down the memory lane, she could see herself as a little child reading to a little boy who lay on her lap. She sighed and turned around her dress rising up to her knees though she ignored it.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments "Mmmm." Matthew murmured, glancing over at her. "Am I going to meet this other friend?" he asked, grabbing a book and taking a seat next to her. He looked up and noticed all the paintings. "By you? Or that friend? They're very beautiful. Maybe because a lot of them are of you..." he teased.

message 77: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments She laughed, "You're already met him, and not they're not by me well most of them aren't" she replies propping herself of on her elbows to look at him. Her hair and come out of it's clip and now fell in silky waterfall down her shoulders. She noticed his eyes were milky, dreamy brown so unlike Alex's icy cold blue ones but closer to her own hazel brown ones. She tilts her head slightly observing him, he was fascinating.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments Matthew looked at her, really looked at her. Sure, he knew more attractive girls, and women, but Lena really was beautiful in her own way. Fair skin, high cheekbones, even features, full lips, and her eyes. They were a light, sparking brown, the type of eyes to hold secrets, ones worth knowing. He resisted the urge to reach out and run a hand through her hair, like he always did with Phoenix.

message 79: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments ((( Sorry! I didn't get any notifs! ))))

She smiles at him biting her pinks lip. This was fun, she liked driving guys crazy and it frustrated her how hard it was to do it with Matthew. "Do you have somebody back home waiting on you?" she asks him softly leaning slightly closer to him. She felt sorry for him, she knew exactly what he was going through. "I'm sorry" she murmurs under her breath.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments ((that's fine))

Matthew snapped back to his usual, aware self, the dreamy, tired feeling gone, vanished. "You don't have anything to be sorry for." Matthew replied. "Nothing is your fault, and there's nothing either of us could do about any of this." he shrugged. Did he want to tell her about Phoenix? Well, yes, and no. He decided not to answer her, to let her question slide.

message 81: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments She sighs and leans back away from him, he didn't want this. Well neither did she. 'Okay" she replies. "I have to go change into my evening dress, you could stay here or come with me" she says tiredly. She didn't really want him in her room, but she wanted him even less here alone with her personal things. He'd just have to wait in her room, while her maidens dressed her in her changing room.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments "As tempting as the latter sounds, I think I'll just stay here." Matthew replied with a small grin. "That is, if you don't mind. I promise, I'll put all of the books back where they belong." he got up and placed the one he had in his hands back where he had found it and started looking for another one. He hadn't finished that one, but it wasn't all that appealing to him anyways.

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments ((( Baaaaaaaaack! )))

She sighed, "Okay don't.." she trails off. She didn't want to give him a clue to where her things where so she decided not to say anything at all. "I'll be back as soon as I can" she tells him closing the door gently behind her. All she could do now was hustle, and pray he didn't find anything of importance to her. Though everything in there had a great importance to her. She made her way to her own room, and stood patiently as her hand maidens dressed and readied her.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments "Don't what?" Matthew turned and almost asked her, but she had already left, the door shut behind her. He shrugged and returned his attention to the books. Well, part of it, anyways. The other part was on Lena, and why she seemed in such a hurry. They still had plenty of time before dinner, did they not? Sighing, Matthew tugged out a book that seemed interesting enough and relaxed back on the couch, opening it to the first page.

message 87: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments Lena finally finishes dressing up and goes back to her little library. She carefully opens the door and tiptoes inside, the door clicking locked behind her. "Back" she tells Matthew sitting down carefully on the sofa, she didn't want to ruin her dress or she'd get punished. "What are you reading?" she asks him not being able to see the book.

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments ((Ohhh, I'm not sure what they read back then. *Inserts random book name*. Yeah, History and times and such are my worst subject.))

Matthew pulled his eyes away from his book and up at Lena. "Wow. You look beautiful." he smiled. "I, ah, I'm not really sure what I'm reading. It's pretty good, though." he handed her the book to look at it. "I'd recommend it, although I don't doubt you've most likely already read it. I wouldn't be surprised if you'd read every book in here."

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments ((( Haha ok, History's so fun thoooooough. XD Well I guess high school history is different from elementary history )))

She blushes slightly at his comment but chooses to not address it. "I have actually, this one's about Early Mankind and the such" she replies smiling. She takes the book gingerly from his hands and flip through it, her smile growing with fond memories. She places the book back in it's place and comes back to sit next to Matthew. "Yeah well, I like to have read most if not all the books in my shelves".

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments ((I never went to elementary school, so I wouldn't know. Oops. <.<))

"So that's what you do with all your free time, then? Come down here and read?" Matthew asked, trying to sound genuinely interested. The truth was, he wasn't feeling very nice anymore, but he knew he should be. "What are some of your favorite books in here?"

message 91: by Sab (new)

Sab (unluckyducky) | 2142 comments ((( o.O home schooled? Or? )))

"Not all my free time is spread reading" she says laughing then gets up quickly to hide the blush spreading across her cheeks. No. No. No "I like riding, and stuff" she stammers to cover up quickly. "What did you do back home in your free time?" she asks pacing the room slowly, she hated sitting still and couldn't sit still with him just watching her with those milky eyes of his. She tries to clear the thought from her mind. Stop

ℱҩℓℓℯη ∀ηɠℯℓ † (thefallenangel23) | 1299 comments ((yes, how did you know? haha. until seventh grade, or sixth, technically, depending on how you want to look at it. "Well," Matthew drawled out slowly. "I guess what your average prince would like. I like to ride, practice my swordsmanship and archery skills, as well as other things to help me in battle. I do enjoy reading sometimes, however, and watching over the kingdom. And of course, I spend a lot of my free time with some of the servants around castle. They can be entertaining in several different ways." he chuckled, as if sharing a private joke with himself.

Lena raised her eyebrow" questioning but shook her head. "Uh-huh" she replied getting up and straightening her hair. "Well, dinner's in an hour I'm going to go do something. Would you like to stay here?" she asks him waiting at the door As much as she liked to spend time with him we was starting to get either bored with her, or annoyed and she didn't want to prolong his suffering plus she had somewhere to be.

Matthew took the book back from Lena and rose from his seated position on the couch. He scanned the bookshelves, then a little "Aha." escaped his mouth when he found where the book had been. He gently placed it back in it's previous correct location and turned back to Lena. "Actually, I think I'll go back up at attempt to indulge in a conversation with them. Which might prove to be a little difficult, seeing as how boring they are." he shrugged. "Do you need any help doing your task or whatever you need to do, though? I'd much rather do that."

Lena stared at him for a few minutes then looked down at the note Alex had left with her handmaidens. "Uh" her mind was battling against itself and she finally came to a conclusion. "I don't need help but you can accompany me" she tells him, quickly writing a message for Alex and leaving it on the main table.
