Once a spirit enters the Underworld, it enters the Pavilion, where three spirits judge them and put them in a certain place, according to their actions during life. One of the three judges is known, King Minos. William Shakespeare and Thomas Jefferson have been some of the other judges. In Greek times, a man named King Radamanthus judged the dead and was later joined by King Aeacus and King Minos. Now there is a select group of judges that rotate regularly.

Lori Schiele (lorijschiele) | 5 comments The three I have heard the most are Rhadamanthus who is also considered the Lord of Elysium since he rules there. The second is Minos who supposedly as the final vote over the souls, and then the third is Aeacus who is not only a judge, but also a doorman to Hades' palace, and is also the guardian over the Keys of the Underworld.

There are 3 choices: Asphodel Meadows where ordinary souls who have not been neither especially good nor evil go.
If they were related to gods, or heroes, (but then that got loosened to if they had been righteous or heroic), they were sent to Elysian Fields.
Then, of course, for the worst of the worst--again, originally for the Titans or for other dangers to the Gods, (but later changed to if someone sinned against or p.o'ed a god), they were sent to Tartarus.

I heard one mention that Rhadamanthus judged the Asian souls, Aeacus the European souls and Minos the Greek souls, unfortunately, I don't recall the source and only read that once.
