Amy--sometimes it takes a while to be ID'ed. You've had only 23 views, which, since you posted this on a Friday is kind of surprising. Usually weekends are our busy times. :o) But, don't give up hope. Sometimes it takes a while to find a title. BUT--you have a group of people dedicated to finding titles helping you look now. Just bump this up every 30 days or so, and sooner or later we will find this title for you.

Crap, it looks like it did. I guess I'll try again?
If you want, just edit the first post up there. Probably makes it easier for subsequent readers.

I did, but something happened to the initial post. And last night's edit did not, apparently, take. I'll try yet again in a few minutes.

Anyway, the story I'm talking about is an older one--I'm thinking I read it somewhere between 1985-1990, but I don't know when it was actually published.
It's about a boy and a girl--twins, obviously--who get pulled apart to go to separate schools. I don't remember too much about what happens to which kid, but I know that the boy ends up in (a boarding school? A Catholic school?) where he is constantly antagonized by unsympathetic adults.
There are references to ESP, the typical sort twins are said to have, and of a character named Hu. There's a line where the girl says something occurred to her, and tells her brother, "HU-man." Something else I remember, kind of randomly, is that the twins refer to things like "getting tweaked on the arm," I don't know why I remember that particular detail so much except that when I first read it I thought that it was a funny turn of phrase, "tweaked," and that there are several such references.
I wish I could offer more details, but that's all I've got. I seem to remember being interested in it in the first place because of the emphasis on ESP powers. I don't know if it was a one-shot or part of a series, but I want to say that the story didn't end in that one book, so maybe a seriess? Emphasis on maybe.
Oh, and MG means Middle Grade.
I'll try to add more to this if more details happen to occur to me. Thanks for trying, guys. Sorry about the confusion with the random delete.
