Yeah.

I'm not sure whether you mean sad about finishing the book, sad about Holden getting sick or sad about the story in general.

In truth I'm feeling sad about all those things, but mostly about finishing the story where so much more could go on, and that there is nothing left of it afterwards. (Like a sequel about what happened after it all).

So yeah, in general I'm feeling sad about the book, but also good because I loved it so much. I wouldn't say I feel loss or loneliness because in my opinion Holden and every other book character will live forever and ever until the world ends, and as long as the book is sitting up there on my bookshelf where I can grab it at any time makes me feel at ease.

Not sad at all. I felt joy. Felt like celebrating. Holden's tears were tears of joy because he had been pulled back from the brink of making the very bad mistake of running away by the love of his little sister who adored him. Because of her he got the mental health care he needed, in a cushy "rest home" in California, where his beloved big brother could see him every weekend.

What could be greater than discovering you are loved and not alone?

I felt a kinship with Holden. He's an interesting person because he see's situations in life where most people would just do what's safe or expected of them and not question the outcome.

I didn't feel sad; I felt content, and hopeful that Holden would one day get his happy ending, perhaps with Jane...who knows? :)

i felt numb....i hd never read anything like this ever.i felt Holden in me as everyone who understand this book does.
i read it about 8 years ago n still feel this book is a masterpiece.

As the story came to an end I felt sad. One I missed Holden and his opinionated personality. Second, the story is sad in a way. It is the story of a boy who is lonely, who is trying to adjust to and rebel against the world at the same time. Lack of empathy from others around him and at times his stubborn behaviour makes me sad.
