Maxine (Booklover Catlady) (booklovercatlady) Lorah, one hour in and 120 pages and I have up on it, I disliked it, and I rarely give up in books! I'm in the minority it seems, I found it boring, trite and hard to get into....just not for me, but others loved it. I've moved on decided I knew it woyjdvt be for me so best to put it down :-)

message 252: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I'm currently reading Cold Moon Rising, Eryan which are ebooks and am either going to start Different Seasons, The Maze Runneror The Golem and the Jinnifor my next library book.

It's still early in the year. :)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I'm trying to get through two ebooks I got on my tablet to read and will be starting different seasons by Stephen king tonight.

message 255: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I'm also reading online right now Book Three of the Blood Magic Saga YA horror online book series by Monica S. Kuebler at http://www.blood-magic.net and she posted Chapter 7 of book 3 today which ended the first part of book 3 today and it was awesome! I can't wait to read more of the third book of the series but must stay patient. If anyone wants to check her series out her series is:
Book 1-Bleeder
Book 2-Letters From New York
Book 3-Ruler (currently being serialized at the website)
It's pretty good and the artwork is amazing too.

Amy (amylw1) | 25 comments ive just started reading "the girl and the raven" by pauline gruber. I won a signed copy on here.

message 257: by Maxine (new)

Maxine (Booklover Catlady) (booklovercatlady) Lorah, still give it a shot as many loved it, I often dislike books that have a lot of hype for some reason...

message 258: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne | 23 comments I've just started Specter of the Past by Timothy Zahn (a Star Wars book). I'm finding it difficult to get into at the moment. But I'll see how it goes.

Specter of the Past (Star Wars The Hand of Thrawn, #1) by Timothy Zahn

Kaylie Sudlow (k-fed) | 30 comments I am currently reading Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris, I thought the film was great but having read over half of the book all I can do is applaud the director for getting it pretty much spot on. Thomas Harris is now one of my favourite authors I read Red Dragon just before christmas and it was brilliant also. I am having to slow down with Silence of the Lambs as I don't want it to end, that's how good it is!!!!

message 260: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I'm reading Different Seasonsby Stephen King and it is pretty good so far. I am only on the first story of the four in the collection. Hope to finish it by the 2nd as my books are all due back to the library then and wanted to read Golem and the jinni too.

10 books?! Wow!

I'm currently 60 pages into Great Expectations and I'm rather enjoying it. Haven't really 'gotten into it' yet though.

message 264: by A (new)

A H I'm currently on The Fountain Head by Ayn Rand and still reading The Time Traveler's Wife. Hope I'll finish it soon...

Brenda (aka Grandma) | 278 comments I'm reading Dragonflight. I know lots of people love this series, but I'm just pushing my way through book 1 because it's so famous. Maybe if I'd read it as a girl?

I'm also listening to The Dragon Scroll, which is a mystery set in eleventh-century Japan. Something about this series really appeals to me, even though I don't gravitate to mystery or historical. Listening to it is odd for me though-- the elderly dignified man sounds too much like the bold young man, and I wouldn't have imagined either of them squeaking!

message 266: by AmberZehr (new)

AmberZehr Weyandt (cheshirebear) Im currently reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley . Its kind of hard to read. It rambles a lot about the beauties of nature at points but its good. It's not at all like the movies i've seen and im glad because they've all seemed corny and they've all been about the monster not Frankenstein himself. glad i decided to start this one over and make myself get through it.

Mags-
I liked The Book Thief, but my experience was enhanced by a great audio reader. He really made the voice of Death realistic for me.

message 271: by Maxine (new)

Maxine (Booklover Catlady) (booklovercatlady) I've just finished the Wool Omnibus by Hugh Howey which contained the first five books it was excellent. I'm now reading Hood by Emma Donoghue

I read it last year. It was one of the best books I read all year. It was very strange in the beginning but once I got use to the narrator I loved it. How is it going?

message 274: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments Currently reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane and The Best of Me. About to have a meltdown because I came up on the hold list for Winter's Tale and all three are library books. I just don't know what to do. Debating just buying Winter's Tale since it is a long one.

message 275: by Aitziber (new)

Aitziber As I had posted previously, I started online training to become a teacher this month, and it has seriously hindered my reading. I just finished the first module, and though the second starts tomorrow, I should have at least a few hours to breathe.

Once I finish As You Like It, I'll be able to join the Hardy buddy read. Can't wait! :D

message 276: by Mags (new)

Mags Gourley | 31 comments Roseanne it's ok so far.... Getting into it. Not a great reader always something else to do, maybe it's because of that as I'm always coming back to it. Need to keep reading :)

message 277: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I'm almost done with different seasons by Stephen king then will get to the ebooks I'm reading.

message 278: by Amy (new)

Amy | 106 comments Sandy, you need to let me know how The Museum of Extraordinary Things is, I've definitely got my eye on that one.

I'm reading "The Brothers Story", set in the extraordinarily cold winter of 1683/4. A few people have thought that it was a drag to get through at first, but I'm loving every page of it. I love imagining immersing myself in the past, and this book is very descriptive and easy to sink right into.

message 279: by Laura (new)

message 283: by Kaylie (new)

Kaylie Sudlow (k-fed) | 30 comments I'm currently 20% through hunger games. I am enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. It's not something I would usually read but I prefer reading a book before reading films and I would quite like to watch the film. So far it is making me want to read the rest and other books in the series.

message 284: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) Just finished Different Seasons by Stephen King, still reading on the ebook eryan and going to take a trip to the library today to find me some ya books to read while I wait for some to come in.

message 285: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) About to start Battle Magictonight. It looked to be an interesting YA Book. I also got one called the Red shoe, Struck by Lightning, and a Mick Foley book called Tietam Brown which looked good. Going to get the YA books done too including Eryan.

Brenda (aka Grandma) | 278 comments woohoo, my library has Use of Weapons available! It's only my 2nd Culture book, but I'm really hoping I've found a new series.

message 287: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 4 comments I have discovered James Dashner. I am reading The Maze Runner at home and listening to Infinity Circle during my commute to work. Both are very hard to put down.

message 288: by Roseanne (new)

Roseanne | 1239 comments Currently reading Winter's Tale and listening to The Color Purple. I am loving both books.

message 289: by Shreya (new)

Shreya (loopyloops) Inferno I curse the moment I started reading it. I always wanted to start it on a train journey somewhere to bat boredom. I only pick up Dan Brown for all the art work references. His literary skills as a thriller writer has always been barely tolerable but this one is testing my patience. But I have to finish it. Reader's curse!

message 290: by A (new)

A H Currently on Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth and The Bride by Julie Garwood

message 291: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Mason (lmason17) | 174 comments I'm only ever able to read one book at a time, so at the moment it is On Beauty by Zadie Smith. I chose this because I finished Howards End last week and Zadie Smith used this book as inspiration for On Beauty. I can definitely see the parallels, and feel as though my enjoyment of her novel is much greater from having read Howards End so recently.

I'm so looking forward to reading that. I have to be militant about books jumping up my to read pile, or some would languish there for years, but I might make the exception :)
