I am reading A Holiday for Murderby Agatha Christie. I got this strange idea to read a Christmas book in July. Our local stores have Christmas in July sales and one of our TV stations will air Christmas movies.

Today I'm reading The Meaning of Night. It's alright so far, I haven't gotten much into it. Yesterday was Ringworld and Goblin Quest, both were excellent.
I'm finishing up Middlesex; I have to seriously read and finish for review Bending steel and Trouble is a Friend of Mine
I'm reading The Invasion of the Tearlingand other July reads. finished the Color Purple and Arabian Nights recently and they were both pretty good reads.
Just finished "To be a Cat" by Matt Haig and now going to read "The Butterfly LIon" by MIchael Morpurgo.
i'm now reading The Christmas Train and the Yellow Claw and am going to get some regular print library books from my TBR later.
im just about to start the woman who went to bed for a year
I have just finished half of a yellow sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie which was excellent, all about two sisters set against the backdrop of the Biafran war in the sixties in Nigeria. Really highly recommended,
.Have just started Elizabeth Is Missing by Emma Healey.
I always forget to update in this thread.Last book read: Charmed #30 The Queen's Curse
Currently Reading: Charmed #31 Picture Perfect
Reading Challenge Widget 9/20 - 1 book behind.
I'm slowly making my way through A Game of Thrones. I don't know why, but I'm a slower reader when I read fantasy. Maybe it's because of the many names, places and stuff.
I've started Me Before You and I'm enjoying it, but it's very sad. I was warned that it was sad, and it still surprised me. I'm only early in but it's a good read so far. I seem to have collected a few of her books without reading any yet so I'm hoping to get through them quickly after this.
Oops, forgot to say what I'm reading.
Just finished two Amelia Peabody books and How Green Was My Valley.
Now off to read Deadly Heat for the summer mini-challenge and to finish Some We Love, etc for the Group Read. The latter has been quite interesting and thought-provoking.

I am also between books. My TBR pile is too big, I can't decide what I want to read. Usually I take a couple of days and think about it.
Cindy wrote: "I am also between books. My TBR pile is too big, I can't decide what I want to read. Usually I take a couple of days and think about it."Here is an idea to try sometime. I just thought about it so it might be a bit buggy:
1) Make a digital computer list of the titles of all the books on your TBR. Using a simple list format make sure to only have one book on one line of text. If you already have just a simple list on your computer that works best.
2) Go to random.org website and scroll down to "list randomizer" and click it.
3) Cut and paste your list (from wherever you have it) into the box where it says "enter list items". Each book title should only be on one line.
4) Click on the "randomize" button just once or if you prefer a set number of times.
5) Read the book that is now number 1 on the TBR list
6) Repeat step 4 if you can't find the book or feel like reading something different.
Thanks for the tip on random.org. I tried it out and it works very well. I will use it when I make my August reading wish list. There are times I just cannot decide what I want to read. I cleaned out my TBR goodreads list. Maybe a shorter list will also help.
The weather man said it might be 105 degrees today. I am going to find a place in front of a fan and read Summer by Edith Wharton. It is a good story if you like classic romance. The main character is annoying. She walks through town saying I hate this town, I hate my past and I hate everything.
At the very end of The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury (which is in parts brilliant and creepy as well as strangely familiar in its distant apocalyptic future). Eager to start Women in Love by D. H. Lawrence (my first romance book in . . . ever).
Stephen Crane's short stories. I read the Red Badge of Courage and my edition came with 5 of his short stories. I really liked the Blue Hotel and The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- J K Rowling, Champion- Marie Lu & A Book of Spirits and Thieves- Morgan Rhodes
Just finished Charmed #39 High SpiritsReading Challenge widget is 11/20 back on Track. Depending on how fast I read my next book I will either be still on track or 1 book behind at the end of July.
Has anyone read The Birds by Daphne du Maurier? I was looking through a box of books and I found this in a book of suspense stories. It is a 75 page really creepy story with a cliffhanger ending. It will probably give me nightmares, still thinking about those attacking sea gulls.

It did inspire Hitchcock's movie. The book and the movie are not the same. I just read some background information and it said that Daphne du Maurier hated the movie. I would recommend the story, it is only 75 pages but will give you a creepy feeling.
Working on The Kill Order... It's ok but nothing great so far. Next will be A Voyage To India for the group read and Solitary, book 2 in Escape From Furnace series. I can nit recomend that series enough! It's a creepy distopian/horror/thriller series that is very well written and will creeo you out and make you hold your breath. I finished it in two days, which is rare since I work twelve hours and can only read for a half hour there and then don't have time to when I get home. I actualy stayed up much later than I should have to finish it haha. So yes, looking forward to that one!
I'm half way through reading Where things come back by John Corey Whaley. I'm trying to read all the books that have been up for a Printz award for young adult fiction. I like it so far.
Short stories by Mary Wilkins Freeman. I really liked The Wind in the Rosebush and the Lost Ghost. These are light ghost stories. If you are looking for scary, horror then you might be disappointed.
I am currently reading prodigy by Marie Lu, not that kind of girl by Lena Dunham and rereading paper towns by John green (one of my absolute favorite books) :)
I'm reading Shiva trilogy#2 - The secret of Nagas
In the day time
&
Shining #2 Doctor sleep
By Stephen King
At night.
Both are amazing..
I'm reading Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. I've only just started it, so I can't say if I like it or not, but certainly it is very strange.
Animals of Farthing Wood- re reading it and enjoying it more 2nd time around. I can appreciate it more.
I'm finally giving in to my parents' repeated recommendations (and taking advantage of the fact that I finally have time to read books that aren't for school) and starting Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. I'm halfway through the first book and I'm really enjoying it and kind of annoyed at myself for taking so long to get around to it!
