@Mei I am surprised you were able to restrain yourself so far. I hope you can last! I was bursting with anticipation when I first read it. One of the most dramatic cliff hangers I have ever read! I am hoping to finish Catching Fire as soon as I can, but I have exams starting tomorrow and I keep getting distracted and coming back on here - which I need to stop! I am eager to join this though. I haven't read Mockingjay before.

Thanks Rachel, I got my answers, alright! I'm on Chapter 7 now. (view spoiler)[It just seems really unbelievable. Technically, Thirteen has authority or power over the Capitol and knowing what kind of a government they are, they won't let that happen! But then they have no choice. They need them, too. It's overwhelming how 13 supplied themselves for, what, 75 years? Look at all those technologies they have as described in the book, it's...wow.

Also, I'm relieved Peeta's alive! Though that doesn't mean he's doing 'okay', emotionally.

And what Gale did to save hundreds of citizens from the Seam, it's amazing and impressive!

I'm on Part II, "The Assault", right now. I hope it picks up pace. I do love the 1st part although it was slow, I just wanted to see some more action and suspense, given the title!

I'm pleased that the pace is picking up. So far it's wrapping up some loose ends. Finnick's story was sad! I couldn't imagine how he has to face that! Haymitch's experience was way more gruesome and cruel, though. I feel so sad for him :( The longer it gets the more Collins stresses the cruelty of the Capitol and I love it because this was delivered perfectly well.

I'm relieved to know Peeta and Annie are rescued, and the rescue team are alive. But Peeta choking Katniss? Ugh!!!! :( Unbearable!!!

Peeta's condition is somehow improving, which is a relief. He remembers some stuff but I feel really sad that he and Katniss don't talk much now. I did say that books shouldn't be heavily focused on the romance because its still the plot that matters sometimes. I just miss the old Peeta, if there's even a new Peeta or he just finally came to his senses. I miss his personality and participation in the story. My heart aches for him and although I'm pleased to know Katniss misses him, I still find it lacking. :(

On the other hand, I've always known Coin resents Katniss and I've been thinking if the war is over, who'll be the leader? I still don't know. Hmm.

What if he's just broadcasting it so that the citizens of Panem will stop following future rebellions towards the Capitol? What if he's broadcasting them so they'll know that their beloved Mockingjay is thought to be dead, and then they'll have power again and manipulate its people? I hope the squad won't get assured by this broadcast!

On Chapter 25 right now and THIS IS A MASSIVE SPOILER!
(view spoiler)[I expected deaths here, alright. Finnick's was depressing. BUT PRIM? This is really depressing. I couldn't take it anymore. The gruesomeness and gory of the situation was effective, but this I can't accept. It wasn't described in detail
Then the resolution came out rushed. Jist like that, the Capitol fell? It's unbelievable! There are no other details supporting how it happened! :( so disappointed! (hide spoiler)]

For me, it was actually good overall. I just didn't like the ending and the resolution. It was too rushed and there was this one scene I was really anticipating and then bam! It's resolved. Yes, I believe those deaths are probable. But the way it happened to characters, it seems like Collins is saying, "This is war! Be okay with this death! You'll get over it! It's natural! They'll die!" I really do get that and even before reading the trilogy I know it will happen. But it was just unnecessary, pointless and well...depressing :(

To summarize why I rated it lower than I expected, my expectations didn't match the book's outcome. That was the BIG problem, though!

@Anna Oh they go to war do they? I am glad still found it enjoyable then, but sounds like a slightly disappointing end to a great series.

@Mei Hmm, sounds like the ending is the worst part. Maybe I'll just lower my expectations for it then. Hmm, that's isn't good at all. Collins should not have to force the readers to feel certain stuff, it should just come naturally when reading.

Okay guys, well I will lower my expectations for the ending and maybe I'll enjoy it more that way! Sorry I am so far behind. I have had school and it gets busy at the end of year, plus all my dance rehearsals. Hopefully I'll get Mockingjay read before the end of the week though!

12% - (view spoiler)[Not much has happened. It was good that more was explained about the rebellion and their escape etc. I liked that Katniss was allowed to go back and see District 12. How sad is it that they bombed it though? I loved how Butetrcup survived though. Cute! Sad about Madge and Peeta's family though. What about Greasy Sae and everyone else?

I want to know more about what happened to Joanna and Peeta. I don't get what happened and how they didn't end up with them.

Its so sad that Finnick is mentally unstable. I understand why he is, but it still saddens me.

I want to know more about Peeta though. I liked the interview. How he got mad. We rarely see him like that and it was sort of nice change... for a bad reason though.

And Haymitch. Why does Katniss see him as such a bad guy? He saved them. That's good right? Confused!

I am glad there is already more of Gale here. He so brave saving Prim and everything!

Well, I guess Haymitch kind of "betrayed" them for the rebellion you know? He didn't respect both of their wishes and did what he planned for the sake of the rebellion and that ended with the destruction of district twelve (their home and their people) and Peeta ending up in the capitol. It was pure luck, I think, that Peeta is safe and sound and not being tortured somewhere. So, technically Haymitch did the right thing but to Katniss and Peeta I guess it feels more like a betrayal.

I like Gale too! I hope there's more about him throughout this one because we rarely saw him in the other two. (hide spoiler)]
